Dual Monitors

Featured Replies

So as the title says, I'm trying to run dual monitors off of one computer in my CAD class, frankly because I can and it will make my life easier. But The PC has an NVIDIA Quadro 600 or something graphics card, which the main monitor runs off of. But the second one I'm trying to run off of the on board card and on board DVI plug, but the second display doesn't register. Any help?

Doesn't work like that. You either have to run dedicated video or integrated. Can't do both. However, if your computer has room and power for it, you can get another graphics card the exact same as the one you have now and would need a jumper cable that links the two cards together. In a way, it kinda works like hard drives, you have the master and x amount of slaves. Same with the graphics cards... you set one as the primary and the other as the slave this way, they aren't fighting each other and the computer pretty much sees them as one unit. You HAVE to have that jumper cable though or else it won't work. I myself have never done this before because I have always had just one card capable of doing dual output. That would honestly be probably a smarter wiser investment in my opinion but everyone has different views.

Haha Tom! I just finished typing my response and hit enter when you posted yours lol

Ya I forgot to mention that. So like I mentioned, your best option is just a new card with the ability to do dual monitors.

It's a school computer so that is completely out of the question.

I figured it wouldn't work, but thought I would give it a try, be the only one in the class with dual monitors. lol. Thanks for the helpl though.
