If people choose to smoke that's their choice, but I personally don't believe in it. 

 

Since marijuana affects dopamine in the brain, those who use it can develop withdrawal for those who suddenly stop smoking, but that CAN happen, it doesn't mean it WILL happen.  

The other problem I see, over long periods of smoking, pot affects the dopamine in a person's brain, which can severely effect motivation and different stimuli (I personally know people like this)  

 

As everyone is support of weed would counter argue, "I don't smoke enough for that to happen" "Simple, just don't smoke as much", but we are all human, and weed being legalized is a novelty, and as soon as everyone starts doing it, not long before you're doing it much more than you anticipated. (that's simply human nature)

 

So I feel, if weed is legalized, everyone will start doing it, and over usage will become common because so many praise it as being a "drug with nothing bad about it", or as such people describe it. It will probably be wonderful after it is first legalized, everyone is stress free, better decisions are made & everything is wonderful.

 

But down the road a little bit, we will find a society that is purely unmotivated, increasingly dependent on technology (as it is now), and setting itself up for complete failure. The nation's problems (on a large scale) won't be able to be solved (because of the attitude becoming prevalent today, of people expecting the government to solve their problems with no effort on their part. add that with a complete lack of motivation for one's own life, and this world will be falling apart)

 

I'm not saying those who defend weed use are wrong, I'm just saying people need to start looking toward the future a little bit more

Guess we will just have to let kids have seizures that the only thing that won't make them into a vegetable is the oil found in Marijuana. I'll go to the Childerns hospital tomorrow and tell poor old Jimmy he is going to have to suffer from seizures and life long health effects of the medicine to help slow down the seizure (most of which is found is cocan) Oh also will have to tell him probably won't live past 11 years old. All because people are to ignorant to actually read the health facts and wonders of marijuana.

It irritates the lungs and frequent smokers can have the same amount of problems as tobacco smokers

It heightens risk of lung infections.

Raises 20 to 100 percent shortly after smoking it can last up to 3 hours

MJ can cause a 4.8 fold increase in heart attack and increases for older people. 

Can cause temporary psychotic reaction. 

Can worsen schizophrenia in people 

 

Smoking while pregnant increased the neurobehvaiorvial problems in babies.

 

Sounds like a great drug to legalize!

I guess I am. But I'm not gonna watch someone smoke their life away on a DRUG.

 

If this DRUG was "soooo good" for you they [government] would have made it legal YEARS ago. people seem to forget that in the 60's and 70's lots of people were "high" on marijuana and weren't really doing good things.

 

Also anyone can go to a clinic and complain about the back or whatever hurting just to get the drug. And doctors will give them a perception.

 

Plus to call me "horrible person" just because I believe in something other than you is very wrong. I believe in saving lives and taking care of people in need but I don't think a ILLEGAL DRUG should be the cure. I bet in a few years or so doctors/ scientist will come up with something else to fix "little jimmy's" issue

I have smoked weed a bit and it just felt amazing, my brother does it and he is a long time smoker, it doesn't really affect him much anymore. I don't recommend doing it in public, I remember going to subway during lunch hour a few months back and I was high as a kite, I was smiling like crazy and everyone was staring at me, it really depends on the person and the environment and how much you do. And if it becomes legal it will become a bigger problem for youth, as it will be much easier to access

One thing I forgot to add, many people I know and in general do not smoke it religiously. So with that included in my opinion, I do believe it should be legalized. 

In my area, so many people smoke weed. I could probably grab 10 highschoolers from three highschools in my area and at least 3 or 4 of them would have smoked at least twice. 

 

The crime in my area is LOW, the drug abuse in my area aside from weed is rather low. I do know a few people who smoke it more often, and they have yet to develop a dependency. Not to mention the fact I have yet to see weed tear a family apart etc. Everyone has their opinions based on their experience, lack of or large amount of knowledge on weed as well as their background of work etc, it's pretty pointless to start being dicks to eachother over it as I doubt anyones opinion will change in this thread. 

 

My reason for legalization is not for easier access or anything on those lines, it is because the drug is already so EASY to obtain, accepted in many communities and so widely used that it's legality really does not matter anymore. Might aswell let the government gain some tax revenue off of it and maybe put that money to good elsewhere.

BTW I am an auxiliary police officer (I mainly assist in 911 calls and direct traffic, do patrol, etc. I got in a very short pursuit last week though ) I did take my drug test and I passed because of the small amount I smoked and I did say yes on my application and (miraculously) still passed, Marijuana isn't a very big offense here compared to Cocaine, Ecstasy, etc. I hope this clears up some things

That so called "illegal drug" Has saved hundreds of thousands of lives and hasn't killed anyone. its one of the only drugs that can't kill you with a over dose, and they did a study of people smoking weed for 20 years straight. The only thing they found was a very small change in the there breathing. But shortly returned after a few days of not smoking weed. 

 

Plus the entire plant it self has been made illegal. The oil in the marijuana plant (Also found in other plants but those plants are very rare and LEGAL) have stop seizures and stopped cancer in its track. So which one would you rather have. Something that bascially stops cancer and save millions or a drug you think its soo bad stay illegal and have million more die. 

 

Also its the government why not? They keep a lot of stuff that could really help us illegal and out of the US. They don't allow some German candy in the US because a kid took to big of a bite and choked to death. Oh here is the best part. The United States Constitution is printed on guess what! Marijuana!! Yup it is printed on what now is illegal paper because the paper company's didn't like the plant because it was putting them out of business.

It's legal in a few states and it hasn't been a big problem, if anything it has been a little problem, I don't think that will change if it is legal country wide (some states and cities will continue the ban of course)

First off, if the "same" type of oil extract can be found in other plants, then WHY don't they use that plus it is legal. (unless you meant that marijuana extract is legal...in which it is not)

 

And second MY OPINION is that marijuana SHOULD NOT and NEVER SHOULD be legal.

I think the lazy pharmaceutical companies should find a new LEGAL (NOT marijuana) drug. Yeah it was made on HEMP paper but that was also 250-ish years ago. And you know what else Co-Ca cola was made with cocaine. Things where different back then and not the way they are today.

 

This was made by National Geographic and it shows the harmful factors of this Drug that a lot of people seem to think is "okay" (which marijuana is not okay).

Can't think of a good enough response to that but alcohol is legal to a certain extent.
