No Police Scanner or Handcuff sounds. (GetAudioFileForAction - No file found for)

Featured Replies

Well, I got my game working (finally), after two fresh re-installs it turns out it was one of my car mods causing crashing..

Now the only problem left is the sound, whenever I call for backup Dispatch has the text in the top right but doesnt say anything over the radio. My character/cop does request it in voice, but dispatch never says anything.

I've tried unchecking read only on all the folders, audio folder is there and the .wav's or mp3's are present, I really cant imagine whats causing it.

Text-only mode is off in the.ini as well, so its not that.

Any suggestions?

I found something interesting in the end of lcpdfr.log regarding the audio files that arent playing, Its a warning.

I had the same problem, I fixed it by re-installing the game.  You should try to re-install the game

Really?...damn.

I just reinstalled an hour ago...

Well, if worse comes to worse I'll back up my scripts and vehicles.img...

I'm reinstlling regardless then, but if any other suggestions pop up post them because its not a guaranteed fix.

I'll mark as solved if it works.

Ugh. I still need support

Reinstalled and STILL no damn sound, no handcuff sound, no taser sound, no dispatch.

Can I get any help from the dev team here? Or somebody thats experienced the problem and fixed it?

Hello,

that's a weird issue indeed. We use DirectSound to play external files, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work. Can you play the audio files manually? Also, is there any chance permission might be not set for the audio files to be read?

The audio files play fine when opened manually. I checked permissions, and read only (I cant uncheck read only, it just re-checks itself afterwards). as for administrative stuff, yeah all the permissions are set and its only as of recently...about 3 or 4 months ago it worked fine now all the sudden after updating to 1.0b is when the sound stopped.

EDIT: Actually, turns out all the folders in LCPDFR were unchecked for full control...I cant check users and ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES to Full Control, It wont let me...

Gotta mess around with this, Im really not sure why its not letting me, I'm the highest administrator on the machine.

EDIT: Now when I try, I checked the INGAME console and got an error saying the file cannot be found - GetAudioFileForAction - No file found for TULSA_ST.

Only one in there it seems, after I called for backup near the first safehouse.

I also found a TEMPORARY solution, If I alt tab out of the game and tab back in it seems to fix it...oddly enough.

The only bad part about that is, theres a small success rate. Usually the game will either freeze or crash but its temporary for now

Any idea on what could be causing this?

Not all streets have audio, that's probably why TULSA_ST is missing. I'm sorrry, I have absoutely no ideay why you have so much trouble getting it to work and I have no clue why the audio won't play either. I never had such an issue. Sorry.

As a last option you might try to install it to a different drive than C:, maybe the permissions are broken somehow. Then again, I suspect that it would fail to access them in the first place and had thrown an error already...

Oh well =/

I'll just keep trying the alt tab thing for now, that seems to get it to play, if not I can deal with text only mode until I get my new computer I guess...atleast it works without crashing.

well, thanks anyways.

As for installing on a different drive, probably not gonna happen and not really worth trying, I'll just wait until I get my better desktop...maybe it will work on a new machine, GTA seems to like some and not like some computers so its worth a try.
