Can't see very far

Featured Replies

Hi. My problem today is that I use command line, and here is what it consists of:

-DX11/high
-novblank
-fullscreen
-availablevidmem 200
-renderquality 3
-shadowdensity 0
-texturequality 0
-viewdistance 99
-detailquality 50
-framelimit 60
-noswapdelay
-forcer2vb
-minspecaudio
-refreshrate 60
-framelockinwindow
-norestriction
-memrestrict 188743680
-memrestrict 209715200
-memrestrict 230686720
-nomemrestrict

I forgot which one I changed and now I cannot see as far as I used to. If you have ever played gta iv then you know about what I am about to tell you. After you spawn you walk outside the building door and you take a right and go towards the end of the street and look to the left you should see like where it leads to the bridge and stuff. I used to be able to see that and after that one mysterious day I can't anymore. so if anybody knows what it is please say.

In the games main menu, what is your 'View Distance' at?

If I helped, I would appreciate you pressing the green arrow to the right of your screen!

Press P or go into your graphics and turn definition ON.

Feel free to PM me for help! Also please hit the like button if anything I said helped or made ya laugh. Specialty is computer hardware and assembling so feel free to ask anything if you need help :)

Hello. Let's break this commandline down, as it has some redudant lines. I'll explain below:

-DX11/high
-novblank
-fullscreen
-availablevidmem 200
As far as I know, this last line is for setting amount of physical Video Memory(ex. –availablevidmem 0.9) NOT in percent.

-renderquality 3
-shadowdensity 0
-texturequality 0
-viewdistance 99
-detailquality 50
-framelimit 60
-noswapdelay
-forcer2vb
-minspecaudio
-refreshrate 60
-framelockinwindow
These are all fine, I personally do not use either of them.

-norestriction
-memrestrict 188743680
-memrestrict 209715200
-memrestrict 230686720
-nomemrestrict
This is where it get interesting. First, you limit the game to 188743680, and then you limit the game to 209715200 (and thus overwriting the last line), and then once again you limit the game to 230686720(and thus once again overwriting the last line). But at the end of this segment, you're just telling the game "no restrictions on memory" and thus making the lines redundant.

I'd recommend you to use this one instead:

-novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -novsync -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict
Feel free to add any lines you wish to it. Just a suggestion and I hope I could help.

@Opulence: His view distance can be seen in the commandline: "-viewdistance 99".

@davelaric: I do not think that decreases view-distance, but I could be wrong.

Alright I tried it and it stopped working. It froze on the loading screen and just continued to show the different people and the music. would it have anything to do with me having a windows 8 computer. I have heard it causes many problems. It worked before as well.

The only mods are lcpdfr and els 7 and no I never save. I think it may have something to do with the command line you put for me to use. Does you putting -norestrictions instead of -norestriction make any difference without the s?

You are supposed to put what I wrote, which is:

-novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -novsync -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict

What I am wondering if it works without this newly added car.

P.S. I started this post before the added car. I added it today and I think I started this on Monday or Tuesday.

I added the car today and started this post on Monday or Tuesday meaning the car is not the problem with me not seeing far.
