Protecting .net.dll Files?

There's not any great way of doing it really, we use some custom protection on our own code which protects against some basic decompiling and renames everything so a decompiled copy would be unreadable.

Dotfuscator Community Edition is good I hear though, and there's another one that I've forgotten the name of.

Someone who is motivated enough could get past it though.

As Jay pointed out, a strong obfuscator will be able to make the code almost unreadable by renaming everything. If you are not happy with the results, try moving the critical parts into a C++ dll.
