How about a Highway Patrol Mod/script

Featured Replies

How about a radar gun that you can take out of your car and do radar on bridges / overpasses

IVDashcam mod has a radar type function, can set up a certain location and vehicles passing through have there speed read.

  • Alright cool.....Who's luke?

  • No, no one has to replicate LCPDFR they could just make a script like Bravehearts FDLC or policing scrpit and you can just keep LCPDFR and push F7 for busy. But if y'all from LCPDFR would like to make

@OP: LCPDFR cannot be edited by end users, or anyone except the development team. No one's going to create an entirely new mod containing all the features of LCPDFR with that small tweak. However, you have 2 options: 1) If/when new callout mods are released by the community containing highway patrol-esque functions, use them, and just choose not to handle any non-highway-patrol callouts. 2) If someone were to implement additional highway callouts NOT using the API (or using it but supplying their own callout manager instead of inheriting from Callout), you could use that and just set LCPDFR to busy to disable default callouts. Option 1 is likelier to work.

Yeah I know but I was hopeing for someone like bravehart or any other modders who would try to make a script like this. Thanks anyways

Again: What you're suggesting is that someone code something from scratch, replicating all of LCPDFR, and with the only difference being the callouts. That is very, very, very unlikely to happen. If someone does make additional callouts, now that 1.0 has an API they're much more likely to integrate them into LCPDFR's callout manager. Which means your best bet would be to run LCPDFR and just not attend non-highway callouts.

Now that the API is released, we don't expect many mods like Policing in the future to have their own callout managers. With the API, someone coding a callout could either work out their own manager and make people choose between their own implementation and LCPDFR, and fully integrating, getting access to the LCPDFR manager, making it possible for people to seamlessly use their mod without worrying about turning off LCPDFR's callouts, play *audio* to help with the callout, etc. At this point, there is little reason to *not* at least use the API to some extent; it can allow things like auto-backup, setting suspects as wanted, creating and controlling pursuit instances, etc. - a highway patrol callout involving a bad driver could be substantially enhanced by using LCPDFR's criminal AI and pursuit system. If someone's already integrating with the API, there's little reason to make their own callout manager.

Is there a reason just declining non-highway patrol callouts wouldn't work? Alternatively, you could suggest making an INI option to disable default callouts; that'd probably be more likely to happen. However, with the API, a separate callout manager goes from "necessary kludge" to "only put it in if you really want to, because it's easier to integrate with LCPDFR".

Well I do decline all the non-highway patrol callouts but it's just not the same as of getting new and consant highway patrol calls. Anyways thinks for the suggestions but I think it would be really cool if someone could make a script fo Highway patrol.

I don't know about North Carolina's Highway Patrol, but here in California, in real life, a "run-of-the-mill" CHP officer does not constantly receive calls.  Most of their time is spent patrolling the area they're assigned, looking for speeders, drunk drivers, toll road/carpool violators, and road hazards.  Setting up and operating speed traps and traffic breaks if needed.  The most common call a CHP officer gets is MVA or vehicle assistance calls, and when they do, most of their time after that is spent waiting for wreckers or investigating the causes.

I have always dreamed about a Highway Patrol-type game where you play a highway patrol officer.  You get assigned a specific highway, you get all the equipment they have including in-vehicle and portable radar/lidar, the ability to set up speed traps, call in specific pursuit techniques such as PIT or rolling roadblock, investigate accidents, close off ramps, and not to mention, handing out tickets and making DUI arrests.  Think of it as a tamer and much more in-depth Need for Speed Hot Pursuit lol.  Maybe one day, we will get such a game, although I don't think there's enough of a market.

Well The NCSHP don't get calls after calls all the time (unless it snows like today) But yeah they do pretty much everything you said but NC has the 2nd most roadway miles in the U.S and they only have about 1,600 troopers. Most of them are doing Highway safety and catching speeders. But If someone was to make a script that people in MP and clans could use and then make the calls every 90sec or something and they could choose if they want to respond that would be cool. Only problem is no one seems to want to make a highway patrol script / mod but maybe one day. I with you buddy, i would be pretty sweet!

I think that is braveheart's script. Or policing tool's. I forget which. It is cool though to stand there and shoot them with the radar gun.

I like the idea and hope maybe someone would create it :)...... To be honest with you! when i do patrol on the highways i do see some cray stuff with the new lcpdfr. Such as i would spot a driver driving all over the road and when i order him out. He cant even stand lol or at times i would notice a accident when a guy attemps to go around traffic and hit a sign and dies... BTw which i think is soo unrealistic at low speeds ...

Maybe to add to the idea! i wonder if anyone can make highway driving more faster :).... for example maybe 55 to 60 mph driving :)  and react when they notice a police car with lights on or something :)

looking for people on GTA online add me: NySwat19
