Crash after several seconds of going on duty every time

Featured Replies

I downloaded LCPDFR 1.0 when it came out and since then every time I run it, it crashes a few seconds after I go on duty, whether I force it or do it the proper way. I know this sounds stupid to you guys but how do I access the log files you need to see what's wrong?

Help would be much appreciated. I will put more info about the problem when I can post the logs.

Are you using 1.0 or 1.0a (the hotfix), and did you use the manual or the automatic installer.

What other mods are you using?

The logs are located in your GTA IV root directory. They're called LCPDFR.log, AdvancedHook.log. (Usually text based documents so dead easy to open with notepad etc)

Hope this helps.

I am using 1.0a, and I used the automatic installer. I am using Braveheart's policing script, traffic flow, ELS, PoliceHelper, Tow Service, ALPR and the Coroner mod.

Here is the LCPDFR log and I don't think the AdvancedHook one was there but I've attached one it might be (I'm not sure).LCPDFRErrorLogging.txtAdvancedHook.log

Did you have 0.95 on before and if so did you properly uninstall it? Because that is the old error log format afaik.

I uninstalled it in the way it says here http://www.lcpdfr.com/page/tutorials/index.action/_/script-data-file-modification-tutorials/how-to-uninstall-lcpdfr-r19

In that case then it's likely one of 2 things.

Either you have ELS activated for a non-ELS vehicle (and thus getting the crash) or you have a dodgy vehicle model.

So what you can do is remove ELS and revert back to the original car models to see if it works, and if it does begin installing your car models and ELS again.

hope this helps :)

I don't see how it can be a vehicle because they all worked fine in 0.95 and also I often crash before I've even spawned a modded vehicle, and all my car mods are ELS. Also, in 1.0 I crashed every time I tried to arrest a ped but in 1.0a, I can't even get to that stage.

Well I got a lot of instant crashes when I added ELS cars, would get past the loading screens spawn in the safehouse and bam, instant crash.

You say you don't see how it could be a vehicle, but a lot has changed, vehicle mods decrease stability quite a lot, especially high poly ones.

If I were you I would just try it and see, if it doesn't work then fine I'll have a think what else it could be. But there is no point saying "oh that won't help" until you try it, because if it did happen to be a car mod then you would never find that out unless you tried :)

In 1.0, originally I would crash straight away like I do in 1.0a now, but i remember reading a post which said you can remove a file which they added in 1.0 to make the loading screens faster which meant I only crashed when I tried to arrest a ped so I could play for much longer without a crash. Do you know what this file would be as I can't remember

Sorry I've taken so long to reply, I've been busy.

I uninstalled all vehicles and I was able to play for longer, however I crashed during a pursuit about 2 minutes after I started playing. I installed one ELS vehicle and I crashed during a pursuit again. I tried again and I crashed a few seconds after I started after the camera panned to tell me about ongoing footchases that you can help with. I don't think it's to do with ELS cars however I did have ELS installed when I used all the original vehicles. Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Right ok, what I would advise you do then is to remove everything and reinstall GTA IV just in case you happen to have a modded file somewhere. I am aware it is a pain but if you kept backups it shouldn't be too dramatic.

Once you have reinstalled GTA IV install LCPDFR using the manual installation, and use the xlive.dll scripthook as it is the one which is more stable. It does remove the need for GFWL so you will not be able to play online using xlive, if you do frequently play online then use dsound.

When that is all done try and play again and see how it handles it. :)

Ok thanks :) This happened to me before and I had to reinstall Windows! At least it's not as bad as that this time
