Another summer, another bushfire season. 

 

Residents of the Perth hills area (where I live) in Western Australia are being evacuated as 20 meter high flames tear through the hillside. So far the fires have destroyed approximately 250 hectares of land, at-least 20 homes and killed one person.

A formation of 4 waterbomber helicopters just flew straight over my house heading towards the fires. I wish I had my camera, that was the coolest thing I've seen in a while. The noise was incredible, my whole house was shaking.

On a serious note: I really do hope they contain the fires and everyone makes it out well. I can't think of anything worse than a major forest/bush fires.

Update: 46 homes have now been confirmed lost, 4 people are missing and one person has been confirmed dead. Over 150 firefighters are battling the fire, the fire is contained but not under control. Due to windy conditions, firefighters are concerned that the fire may break containment lines.

There would be more then just one fire this year, Plus this week is going to be even hotter. On Wednesday it's going to be 29c, the hottest day for my location (Tasmania)

For most firefighters this is the 4th fire they've battled within a few days. It's very hot, dry and windy here, perfect fire conditions.

It's always is in Western Australia and even Victoria gets it pretty bad, like 3 years ago. I always hated Summer as it's to flipping hot

As of now the fire is contained but still out of control. A bushfire watch and act has been put in place for residents of Parkerville, Stoneville and Mount Helena, there is still a possible threat to lives and homes in the area as the weather conditions are changing. 

 

4 people are still unaccounted for, let's hope they made it out safe.
