Massachusetts Staties old & new!

I live in Massachusetts, and I'm a big fan of the MSP.

I live in Mass too, most people would reply that you'd be their first big fan.   They have a bad reputation state wide. Anyway, good textures and models. Someone needs to get going on the Ford Interceptor Taurus though. They're quickly doing away with their crown vics around my part of the state.

To be honest, I've never heard anything about them having a bad reputation, except for the Boston Marathon stuff and I can see that, however it's a pretty horrific event. Whether it was staged or not, I'll probably never know. (Some guys were talking about that in another forum thread)

As for the Taurus's, I know they bought some but I thought they really were moving to buying explorers only. Around here Crown Vics are still what you'll see the most of. I haven't seen any plans to incorperate Impalas, new chargers (Old ones are dying out ATM) or caprices. Just Explorers seem to be the only "New" car I've seen.

-Mr.Quiggles

The Massachusetts State Police are leaning more towards the Explorers because it has better horsepower and a larger vehicle which they believe are safer when involved in a rear-end accident. They also like the intimidation factor of the larger vehicle. I was talking to one of the State Police Lieutenants back in August about them.

Nice! That's quite interesting to know actually. It'll be interesting to see where they turn to when the 07 Chargers and Crown Vics finally all get retired. With no current plans to implement 12' Chargers, Impalas, or Caprices it'll be interesting to see if they'll have a majority ford explorer fleet.

They bought some Taurus's, but I haven't seen any. If so, they bought it just for field testing.

The general population hates them based on their conduct, and other agencies in different nearby states note their dirty cruisers and unkempt uniforms. I saw a new trooper SUV the other day during a snow storm that had the entire rear of the car completely covered in snow. The back windshield, the tail lights, everything. Only the top hazards were visible, and this was on Highway 95  at the scene of an accident. The troopers write people citations for having snow on the roof or covering lights of the car, and here was a trooper in a brand new SUV apparently aching to lose his job and get his vehicle totaled at tax-payer expense.

If what you say is true (And I'm not doubting you), that's absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure every trooper is slightly different, some may take more pride and dignity in their work. If I were to become a trooper, stuff like that would be second nature. Stuff like a tidy uniform, fully functioning and clean equipment, courtesy and professionalism ect.

Perhaps the MSP has just lacked discipline lately, academy standards relaxed ect. Especially for a paramilitary department of the commonwealth, that does sound unacceptable.

I've seen slightly dirty uniforms (although not horribly messy) myself, since they commonly pass by or come into my place of business, and the winter snow cover problem is 100% true. I would have taken a picture but I don't want to do that while I'm driving. I've never had one give me an attitude since I've never been pulled over in Massachusetts before. It's not as though local cops don't screw up, though. A local female officer was on the side of the road, standing on the white paint leaning into the window of some old lady casually talking to her. Her patrol car didn't have her overheads or any hazard lights on, and she motioned to me to slow down while I was on the opposite side of the road, as if I was the one causing a safety issue instead of her.

Here's a good example of a little MSP police misconduct.

In addition, police misconduct is something we'll just have to live with. However, it should be the citizen's job to tell the police what they can and can't do. Recently, it seems the police are just starting down a path of doing whatever they want to do, which could command from high up, poorly educated police officers, the culture, who knows.

And getting back to what you were saying about the female officer, stuff like that is just the norm now a days. It's really unfortunate that there is that aspect to the police culture, and it's even more unfortunate some people only see the bad side and judge the police only based on the misconducts they do.

-Mr.Quiggles

Speeding police like that is pretty common, actually. They'll sometimes do that to sneak up on a driver they're going to pull over, other times they do it to overtake someone. 65mph is the speed limit on a highway in most cases, but you're able to break that temporarily if you're trying to overtake someone.

That texture for the explorer in the video looks amazing! Is it just the same one you linked under lcpdfr links?

I'm going to stop you right there, now before I continue allow me to say

1) I know this will be off topic

2) I'm not TRYING to start a flame war, just stating my opinion.

With that said, I don't know where you were April 15th or what FUBAR news agency you received your information from during that week but I have no clue why you'd be going on about how they'd have a bad reputation from the Bombing. MSP and ANY law enforcement agency involved during that week did everything and anything they needed to do in order to protect us. Like I said, I'm stating my opinion (As someone who walked away from the Bombings without any medical issues) and you're more than welcome to state yours, but in this case I couldn't read this and not say anything.

I'll gladly accept any flak or warning points that come my way.

On a totally related note, Undercoverchicken's MSP Explorer is much close, if you base accuracy solely on lights/lighting set up. And there are a couple Taurus's out there that if skinned correctly can pass for a decent model. But I agree, a solid MSP themed cruiser would be nice. If i can get my hands on a 2013 I'll try my best

Yes it is Ryan, so just download that explorer and use the skins on it.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I'm not looking to argue either. What I meant was I don't necessarily agree with them having a bad reputation, but I'd see where people were coming from in relation to the Boston Bombings where there were a lot of laws broken to catch these guys.

Perhaps when I said "I've never heard anything about them having a bad reputation, except for the Boston Marathon stuff and I can see that" It was a little too vague. Again, all I meant was I've never seen a bad reputation, except for the Marathon (I read a lot about it) and I can see where the points are being made, I don't necessarily agree.

As for the vehicle models, the one thing about Undercoverchicken's MSP model was it didn't have a rambar, and that really disappointed me. Next, the Whelen Liberty was all blue, and didn't have the red + yellow alternators. With BxBug's models, I was at least able to change the lighting patterns to match the MSP's (All blue, Red alternators on the right, yellow on the left). As for the antenna, I didn't care too much for it. Some vehicles have it, some have it in the bull-whip (I believe that's what it's called) configuration, and some have the erect antenna. And if you make some more models visible, that's be amazing. You're so good at models from what I've seen.

I think this is what Undercoverchicken used. (Not very accurate, I'm not sure why it doesn't have a rambar or white rims. Maybe showcase?).

Or maybe this: (Maybe the MSP doesn't have white rims for STOP? I have absolutely no idea. A bit odd.

That's true, it could be coincidental. But in many cases it's not a coincidence, I've seen numerous programs pulling over cops in police cars because they're speeding. It just enforces the stereotype that some, and I repeat, some cops think they are above the law.

Yeah I know his wasn't as accurate as it could have been, and not all of the 2011-2013 Explorers have Rambars for MSP, it depends on the officer and the duties he'll be preforming. However I agree with you about the all blue lightbar unfortunately.

Hopefully something can come soon!

Ps. +1 for responding to me rationally and explaining yourself, much appreciated

I think all the MSP Explorers I've seen all have Rambars. Same go with the Chargers, Tahoes, Crown Vics, but for example the pictures I sent those are some examples, the few I've missed.

And likewise, I always hated pointless fighting and stuff, especially over the internet. Rational solutions are the best solutions. :)
