Game Crash On Drug Deal Callout 1.0a

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I spent awhile searching to see if I could find a topic related to mine, but so far have missed any. If this is super common, you have my apologies.

I'm running LCPDFR 1.0 with the Hotfix which has helped my game immensely. However, I am still getting a crash to desktop when I accept the drug deal callouts. It always happens the same way. The game is running super smooth and stable. I can do traffic stops, arrests, call for prisoner transports, take arrested suspects to stations myself, perform other callouts, and have no issues. Then I get a callout for a drug deal, accept, run to the crime scene, one of the dealers takes a shot and my game freezes and then crashes to desktop.

My computer specs:

Windows 7 64 bit Home Professional

Quadcore Intel i7-2630QM @ 2.0 GHZ with Turbo Boost to 3.0 GHZ and Hyperthreading

6 Gigabytes of RAM

Nvidia Geforce GTX 560M at 1 Gigabyte of VRAM.

Attached are the logs:

AdvancedHook.log

LCPDFR.log

I have all the updated .NET Frameworks and other requirements for LCPDFR as I followed the links posted here in the support forums to make sure visual basic, and what-not were properly updated. I have a legitimate Steam copy of GTA IV (No expansion packs) updated to 1.7.0

EDIT: I should also mention I am running game as administrator, read only has been unchecked from my main GTA IV folder, and I have shut off User Account Control.

Thanks in advance.

I know it requests that we do not bump our own threads, and I don't want to sound impatient, but it's been two days. Anyone have any idea of what might be wrong?

It's something which has failed to spawn properly by the mod, I've had a similar crash a few times recently when the game is trying to create something.

As far as I know, there isn't a lot you can do about it other than to avoid drug deals for the time being, you're lucky there. Mine crashed when I tried to drive past a roadblock that was spawning in on it's own (random event)

Thanks for the reply, Luke! I was starting to get a bit anxious. Anyways, I'm really curious to know what it could be trying to spawn that isn't there...

And I've noticed in the last few instances I have crashed (that was NOT in response to a drug deal callout) it was producing the same sort of error messages. So it appears that LCPDFR 1.0 is trying to spawn some sort of model that isn't there.

In all the cases where I have randomly crashed, it has been right as a weapon was fired at me. I have modified the default pistol in the game. No sound mods, no magazine capcity mods, just basically a retexturing of the default pistol to a Beretta 92F. I'm beginning to wonder if that may be the root of my crashes. Otherwise the pistol works just fine and I can use it as a player, as do the other AI police.

The only other thing I've modified was my police officers themselves, but the crashes caused by modified peds was resolved in the Hotfix. So now, I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps my 6 gigabytes of DDR3 ram is not fast enough for LCPDFR 1.0 to load in a model as it requests it, resulting in a crash, with the error message about a missing model.

Do you think if I add the preloadmodels command line to my LCPDFR config file that it could possibly resolve this error? Have you tried that in your game?

I'll try preloading models, and report back.

If that fails to resolve the problem, I'll switch back to the default pistol textures.

Upon failure of that, I may go back to default peds. (Though I dislike Rockstar's so much in comparison to F5544's Improved Cop I may just learn to live with the crashes.)

The crashes could be caused by your models yes, any time you remodel something in the game you increase the possibility of a crash.

If I were you I would grit your teeth and make do with default for now. Once the devs know what is the main issue and have released a couple more hot fixed we should be golden.

They're working hard on making lcpdfr for us, for no other benefit so patients is a virtue :)

And you have no need to be anxious, even if nobody replies for a week, remember that a lot of people will have seen your post, especially the devs and testing team.

Also try to remember that even the international tech companies of the world don't reply immediately, it took samsung over a week to reply to my email about a broken monitor ;)

Always post your errors or problems, we'll see them, test them, and eventually get back to you. That's the wonderful thing about this community, we're always here :)

Very true, and I definitely appreciate the community, and the developers. I did not mean to sound like the developers of LCPDFR owed me anything at all. And I'd also like to offer my apologies. I understand that they are using their free-time to develop this incredibly wonderful modification for absolutely nothing in return but the thanks of the users. So I'm very sorry if I sounded demanding.

I enjoy the modification so much that I guess I have an overwhelming urge to play it and I guess I got impatient. It's like a drug, lol. This community doesn't need people that feel that the world owes them, and I certainly don't want to become one of those people, so yeah...I'll work on not being a monumental jerk, and I hope you can forgive me for sounding like one. Lol.

Unfortunately, work has kept me quite busy in the last few days and so I haven't had the opportunity to test out LCPDFR again with the vanilla ped and gun files, so I'm still hoping to report back with my findings.

You didn't sound like a jerk or demanding. I just wanted to give you a friendly reminder, because I appreciate how annoying it can be to want something to work so badly and nobody helps you immediately.

But I also appreciate the stress it can put a developer under. :)

Let me know if doing any of thay works as and when you get chance. :)

It happen to you? Than mugging calls?, The victim is often deformed. It's funny to run ped with bent torso.

I did happen to have one mugging call out where I saw the victim running towards me, as they always do. However, this one's torso was bent. It was...it looked like something from a horror movie and I'm sad to say I about pissed myself and nearly shot this "victim." I immediately called an ambulance for that person and proceeded on foot to the "mugger."  When I caught up to the "mugger" I ended up letting him go as I felt, based on the fact that he was exhibiting early signs of shock, that he was only engaging in self-defense. The "victim" was checked out by the EMTs who were baffled as to how they were still alive. Soon, FIB showed up, said that the LCPD had no authority or jurisdiction over the current situation, cordoned off the area, and took the "victim" off in an unmarked black truck. I have not seen such a case since.

LOL

Anyways...I believe the root of all of my problems lately with LCPDFR has been the lack of the Preload Models command line in the Main section of the LCPDFR.ini

I switched back to the default pistol and received a shots fired call-out. When I arrived on scene I began to take fire. I took cover, began returning fire, and called for noose back up and my game froze.

So, staying with the default pistol I also enabled the Preload Models commandline.

I have just played over an hour without incident, finally quitting when the Police Helper scripts ended up crashing, and I was too lazy to reload scripts.

I received multiple call-outs, and completed each one without a crash or error. (Including 3 mugging call-outs with no horrendous bent torso victims. lol) While I never did receive a drug deal call out (the only one I got this session immediately went code 4 as I responded) I did receive multiple drunk driver, and drive by shooting call-outs, both of which used to crash me when I would catch up to the pursuit. In fact, the drive by would crash as soon as the criminals would shoot at me. This time I was able to shoot back, and neutralize both suspects. I also did tons of traffic stops, and eventually had one person open fire on me during the stop.

None of this crashed my game like it used to. I performed multiple on-foot arrests of drunks, street vendors without vending licenses, ANPR tagged vehicles were called in and towed, lots of activity like I never could before.

I think the best answer for me and anyone else having crashes on call-outs would be to try enabling the Preload Models command line. It seems to have worked for me.

Glad you've got it all fixed, if you have any further problems please don't hesitate to post them on the forums :)

the bent victim thingy is a bit weird, I've got it too. I giggled lots the first time it happened but ah well. If you push them over they ragdoll normally and look normal but then they ping back up into a weird deformed object again. Funny

Anyway, happy gaming :)
