There have been two military humvee's sitting out front of our local PD for a few weeks. I'm just curious as to why. 

Maybe new swat truck's?

My local Sheriffs department stores them for the National Guard from time to time. 

Go inside and ask them why they are here? They probably won't shoot you .. if you're lucky.

Most likely they will put some lights in them then they just use them because they are real good off-road and if you get floods, those humvees can go in water up to the hood.

Actually, they can go as deep as the snorkel will allow it. Some of our trucks have the snorkel above the roof, so it will actually go completely underwater. Of course, you wouldn't be able to breathe, but the truck would still run.

Yea that is true but I actually never saw one with it over the roof and my county doesn't use them, I was only going off my friends that has the stock snorkel a little above the hood.

That's what I was thinking, that they were storing it for the national guard. I didn't even think about a new swat team.

Well I guess the same reasons why some departments purchased former CUCVs from the Army back in the day. I think there's not need at all to go into an argument over baseless conspiracy theories.

 

The department here got a military Humvee from a grant from the government. I guess they had a surplus of them. I haven't seen ours yet because they keep it in the garage until it's needed. I guess they can't make 6mpg stand up when it's time to budget haha.

Read this on a website, forgot which one. It will be martial law and a police state, when police are carpet bombing a crack house, and lining up civilians on the sides of the road by the hundreds and executing them. Just because a local police department buys 2 used Humvee's, doesn't mean they are about to seize control of the country. My town recycling department has an old Chevy CUCV. Are they beginning martial law, too?
