I just started playing Battlefield 4 Online, and I have been getting this lag. I am playing the game on Ultra Settings, and have not been able to get past the lag issues. I was able to play single player on Ultra with no lag/marginal lag, but online lags consistently. Is it my computer being too slow to play the game on Ultra thats lagging, or is it the internet/server connection thats lagging?

 

Here are my specs:

 

Intel i7 4770k @ 3.5 GHz

NVIDIA GTX 770 SuperClocked

8GB RAM

I'd say a bit of both, but it's sounding more like an internet issue since you can play singleplayer pretty well. I don't actually have Battlefield 4, but someone could go and try out that server if it's not a clan/guild server. Your PC seems pretty stable and probably is able to run GTA IV with pretty amazingly high settings (mmm, tasty). I just remembered, though, that your operating system could be a factor in this. My friend actually had Windows 7 and was experiencing problems with Battlefield 4, and then upgraded to Windows 8 and the issues resolved themselves. He later told me it's a Windows 8 optimized game, so that could be a factor in this. 

Looks more like PC lag, but you'll have to measure it. Keep track of your FPS in game. If that checks out, check your ping constantly, and see if it's consistently bad across a bunch of different servers, if that checks out, do some ping tests to external servers to see if you drop packets, cause that could also be packet loss. Lastly, monitor your CPU usage if you can in-game, or at least how hot it's running while you're playing.

I remember trying to play the beta and it was a slideshow lol. Now i have new parts so i wonder how it would run.

Make sure your video drivers are updated I know Nvidia and AMD both had a few updates after BF4 launch. Also check your ping, Battlefield online has awful latency lag if your ping isn't that great in multiplayer. If it happens like that in single player as well it's probably something to do with your video drivers or your end in general. (unless it's a general known problem, idk I don't play BF4 since I heard so many bad reviews on bugs and glitches)
