Just A Few Questions From A New Player

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have just downloaded LCPDFR and a bunch of addons for it (list below). It all seems to have installed correctly and is working, but some things don't seem to be quite right yet. I assume there won't be fixes for all my problems but I'll list them anyways.

1) When I spawn an ELS enabled car, one light on the light bar at the top is always on. When I turn the emergency lights on and off again, it looks completely normal. It's just a bit annoying as all NPC police cars on patrol have a permanent blue light on the roof. I attached an image of the glitched lights

1.5) . If I install ELS v7,  the previous issue stops, however the sirens don't work (I have to hold the key down, the toggle key does nothing)

2) I have installed Braveheart's policing script, however I still only get the vanilla callouts. Do I have to disable the vanilla callouts to get the Braveheart's ones or have I just been unlucky?

3) When I use the arrow keys to use the indicators my car turns that way. However in the GTA keybinds it says that the only keys to turn are a and d. Any way to fix this?

4) The breath analyzer from police helper doesn't seem to be working. Not a big issue though.

5) I accidentally saved while on duty (I know, i'm an idiot). Now my save is corrupted and I had to start the story over. Is there any way to skip missions (with a cheat/ external program)?

List of mods installed:

LCPDFR 0.95 RC2R2

ELS v6

K-9

Police Helper

Simple trainer

Braveheart's policing script

Indicator script

Tow service

And a bunch of ELS enabled cars

The attached image is a picture of the lighting issue. This is before I activate any lights on the car. If I do, the lights work normally.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my many questions.

Since this isn't really an issue with LCPDFR itself, I'll go ahead and move this to Grand Theft Auto IV Support.

1) Emergency lighting System V7 integrated a staging system. You have to press "J" three times so all the lights come on before you can activate the siren.

2) Did you go on duty via the script (Alt+Del)?

3) I believe you can change the key bindings for the indicator script in the .ini file.

4) Not working how? Does nothing pop-up when you press the keys, or something different entirely?

5) Using Simple Native Trainer, you can skip to certain missions, ect. You could also use a save-game file downloaded from the internet, but this isn't recommended as vehicle may have been saved in the parking bays. Which means if you have modded vehicles, your game may crash.

Thanks a lot for your answer. That's fixed most things now. Was a bit of an idiot for not seeing that message saying ALT+Delete when you load the game... I'll change the indicator keybinds, just thought that it was a bit weird that the car turned without the arrowkeys being bound to turn.

Concerning 3), nothing happens at all. As far as I'm aware the keys in the ini are ALT+B or something like that, I left them at default. I hit multiple key combinations like CTRL+B and ALT+B standing near a citizen. Do they need to be in a car or do I need to stand on a specific side of them?

Which option do I use in simple trainer to skip missions? Had a quick look in there earlier but saw nothing along the lines of "Skip to next mission".

Anyway, I appreciate you help.

No worries.

I think you're hitting the wrong keys for the breathalyzer. It's Shift+B to breathalyze a motorist (stand next to their window), and Shift+X to breathalyze a person on foot.

As for the trainer, I think it's in Mission Help. I've never used it so I can't even be sure that option exists, but I've seen a few posts about it.

Ah thanks, I just looked in the .ini and saw the Shift+x thing. Just one more question: Almost every car (about 9 out of 10) that is moving seems to be a taxi. Is this normal? I only just got GTA 4 and instantly installed mods so i'm not sure how it's meant to be, but it seems a bit bizarre if most cars are taxies.

"3) When I use the arrow keys to use the indicators my car turns that way. However in the GTA keybinds it says that the only keys to turn are a and d. Any way to fix this?In the .ini file (which is in the scripts folder, probably named indicator.ini), you should be able to type-in the key bindings. I set mine to "left=Delete" & "right=PageDown".

"5) I accidentally saved while on duty (I know, i'm an idiot). Now my save is corrupted and I had to start the story over. Is there any way to skip missions (with a cheat/ external program)?Figure out what is the save game's number (while in the save screen, count from the top). After that, go to C:/Users/[username]/AppData/Local/Rockstar Games/GTA IV/savegames/user_[gfwluserid]/ & delete the corresponding save game file. For example, if your save file is the 4th from the top, then your save game file name is SGTA4003, that is, 4 - 1 = 003. That way your game will automatically load the saved game before you saved while on-duty.

Regarding almost every car moving being a taxi, that's the 'Taxi bug'. That usually happens when the game thinks there's a bit too much load on the PC. You can find various "Traffic Loaders" (do a Google search) that will "spawn" other vehicles in traffic. Keep in mind that having these Traffic Loaders may or may not cause a slowdown.

(P.S. Sorry if the Bold is annoying   )

Thanks! I thought maybe the taxi thing was because I hadn't played any missions yet, but now I'll look into that mod.

Unfortunately I am an idiot and always overwrite my first save, so I don't have any old backups... But it doesn't really matter, I only lost about 2-3 hours.
