Best Way to Texture a Tire

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I have been working more on my LAPD AMC Matador, and I modeled a tire for it from scratch in blender (I'm more familiar with blender than 3ds max), but I need to know the best way of going about texturing it (either in blender or zmodeler). Mapping the tire tread is what I am specifically having trouble with, because I want the textures to tile properly, but I'm not sure how to map it without distorting the texture.

Here is what it looks like right now in zmodeler:

EDIT: This should have been in the modding questions forum, sorry!

Ok, I guess that would work, but is there a way I can map one section of the tire and then revolve it like you can with a spline in zmodeler?

IDK man never done this , try search on youtube

I would think that the best way to texture a tire...

is with a mouse.

My System:

Intel i7-2600k | ASUS P67 Sabertooth | NVIDIA GTX 560ti | Corsair 750W PSU | Corsair Vengeance 8GB | Lamptron Fan-Atic

Lol, well yes, but the texture would be applied with the angle of your current viewpoint, causing the texture to stretch and not look right. Plus, It's even more vital that the texture be undistorted because the tread needs to tile properly and look seamless (the texture only has a little section of tread that you have to map to the whole tire).
