(UPDATE) My New Strobes install!

Featured Replies

Okay, my last topic didn't go so well as there ARE people against the use of strobe lighting for whatever reason, I made sure I spoke to a Police Officer about the legalities of strobe lighting before I installed them this is what he as well as the guy who decals and outfits the RCMP vehicles for the Dartmouth/ Halifax/ Tantallon area:

I can legally have them installed anywhere in the car as long as I do NOT use them on a public roadway for an illegal purpose or on a public roadway at all, they CAN be used on a private road, driveway or empty parking lot, amber strobes/ LEDs are the only type of lighting that can be used while the vehicle is in motion and as you can see i'm in an empty parking lot, keep in mind that this is not for everywhere, I don't abuse them either, also, there was a comment about how a fog lamp mounted on the car would have been better, WRONG, it IS illegal to make the car look like a cop car, spotlight, rambar etc..

There are some people I know that may enjoy this, don't wreck it and start a flame war, Please.

I love Crown Vics! what model year is it?

It's a 2003 CVPI, lots to do on it for the winter months, new tires, new undercoat, gonna put her away next year for winter hopefully and just use it for a summer vehicle.

Looks a lot better then last time

Thinking about trying out a couple Amber Whelen Vertex in the headlights themselves, since it is the new Wig Wag system in the new Interceptors.

Looks great man! Just wondering, but is it legal in Canada to put something like an amber arrow stick in the rear window? It would be pretty useful.

There is 1 old interceptor that has them, they aren't illegal as long as the car doesn't look like a cop car no matter what kind of car it is.

Don't get me wrong, I love this and think it looks awesome, but what exactly is the point of doing this? Just for looks? Anyway, that is pretty sweet looking,I'm quite jealous...if I do get a car soon, it is gonna be a '91 Civic that had 87 horsepowers when it was new...lol. I can't wait to see the finished setup on your car!

It's because it is awesome! :D

Hell, that's reason enough for me!! :D lol Hopefully a few years from now I'll be driving a car that already has those lights on it and I will be able to use them legally! ;D

Those lights are pretty slick looking, but I would HIGHLY recommend these:

CS240 Power Supply: http://www.whelen.com/auto/product.php?head_id=2&cat_id=9&prod_id=196 ( I have 3 of these installed, 2 in the trunk and 1 under the hood)

Headlight Strobes: http://www.whelen.com/auto/product.php?head_id=2&cat_id=9&prod_id=192 (without the power supply)

and i'm switching to this power supply next install: http://www.whelen.com/auto/product.php?head_id=2&cat_id=9&prod_id=197

They haven't let me down yet and they are BRIGHT, anything bigger after next install i'll need a new alternator to handle it.

Also, check your fuses, you may have blown one somewhere.

But Don't those have a Pretty Big Price Tag?

Cause I want Strobes n' stuff, But I don't want

to Spend a REAL Pretty Penny.

Sergeanto!

Hey I think they look very nice! Here in St Louis MO we can have spot lights rambars (if we are security) and any lights we want. (as long as they are not red and blue) But if say I run my own security company if I pass all the tier classes and get all the way to taser we can take a final class  to where security can use red and blue lights. (only a marked car and we have to have the certification papers on us at all time) Not recommended to have all your security to have.

But ya having the lights as long as they are not red and blue here we are fine. And yes can only use them on private areas and not while driving.
