Out of Vidmem for some members

Featured Replies

Hello all,

When I released a Clan pack ( beta ) People started to get out of vid mem, well what did I edit since the previous pack ( Which had no errors at all! )

I Added a few civilian vehicles ( Realistic vehicles ) like 8-9 ( I believe ). Could the problem be there? That some people can't load them?
Also i replaced a few uniforms, cars which are all less then 80.000 Polygons ( A few 81 but that`s almost the same )

I hope that somebody knows the answer for this,

Kind Regards,

The original vehicle polygon count is around 20k to 30k. Cranking that up to over 80k will cause memory leaks. And GTA IV leaks memory even without mods.

Alright, so it are probably the extra civilian vehicles i added? Thanks for the reply, that should help out a lot!

btw, though you held a break after your 1000 posts? :P

It probably is, try reducing the poly count of said vehicles. This should cause less crashes.

You know, I tried going outside. The graphics were superb but the gameplay was terrible. So here I am again. ;)

Alright, i`m going to create a second beta, without the civilian vehicles.

And yeah i know, its horrible :/

Alright, I hope it works out! :) Cheers!

EDIT:

As Matosh said, you can create a txt file called “commandline.txt” (without quotes) in your main GTA IV installation directory. Insert the following lines:

-availablevidmem 2 -percentvidmem 100 -nomemrestrict

So, i have tried out removing the civilian vehicles, still crashes people out, so i replaced the model ( ped model ) by hand ( instead of just a pack ) it worked out no error, they spawn a known error car ( Under the noose ) out of vid mem again, now gave the advise with the commandline, i have my fingers crossed if this works

Edited : Commandline doesn't work.. The model is now around the 80.000. Never had problems before.

80k is still alot of polygons. What are your computer specs? And if you are playing multiplayer with these models crashing is normal. Consider just using the vanilla models when in a multiplayer game.

Well, it is alot but it should be playable, and it doesn't crash for me, its for fellow members ( Multiplayer game ) And it is crashing, but right at the middle, of spawning the model, same story in singleplayer.

For others it doesn't work properly ( and the Version 1 pack did ) for me it works just flawless with my computer

Perhaps it's some fault with the model. Modeling is not my strong suit truth to be told.

Perhaps your other clan members have a less powerful computer.

So what we did now, we replaced the model. Still crashes. But after inserting a small commandline, it works for a few. What could be the problem there? Not powerful enough computer? Lack of energy to spawn the model? Because it's only that model that gives the problem.

I know it has been "Resolved" but i`m trying to find the deep problem, so the commandline doesn't have to be used.

If somebody knows something about this, or wants to see the files, go ahead and message me.

Kind Regards,
