What you need to know (if you don't already) is that this is one of the worst PC ports known to man, honestly. So you will start losing textures in some places, I used to lose textures in the tunnel a lot, and when the textures used to come back, I used to get crazy frames (like 70 or 60 frames while recording) and then when I got out of the tunnel, everything went back to normal. I believe it was Castle Tunnel (the one on Union Drive West or East) that I had that issue with.

SCNG FTW!!

If running a vid card more than 2-gigs, make a text doc and name it commandline.txt and in it copy and paste -availablevidmem 2 , and put the commandline.txt in your main GTAIV root folder (or EFLC, which ever you play).  That helped cure my game of almost all texture loss for the most part.

Actually, my full command line reads:

-norestrictions
-nomemrestrict
-percentvidmem 100
-availablevidmem 2
-noprecache
-novblank

Also, if running the Steam version, use the LaunchGTAIV.exe, or LaunchEFLC.exe, instead of the Steam GTAIV.exe that you would normally use.  The Launch.exe runs much better FPS and texture loss is minimized.

Another thing to remember is the more high-poly cars you use, especially in police slots that spawn often (police-police4) will increase texture issues.  Keep the high-poly cars (ELS) in the noose, FBI,and other slots that don't spawn often.

Good luck,
