Would i be able to run GTA4 + this mod

Featured Replies

Hello,

This is my first post after watching hours of videos on the LCPDFR mod. I have owned GTA 4 on my console and loved it but console gamers get screwed since they cannot have mods. So recently to play games like Red Orchestra, Company of Heroes, Counter Strike, Garrys Mod, SWAT 4, ect i bought a new computer for $90 basically brand new. It works for all those games and ive used the systemrequirements website and it says i fail on CPU and graphics card. My main question is would i be able to play GTA 4 with the mod on a 2.8ghz processor.

Specs are below,

Thanks in Advance

Video Card:

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too.

$90 compare to what then. A heck of a lot more. This plays everything i have wanted it to. So it was a decent deal. Came with a fresh version of XP and microsoft office.

Games this rip off plays perfectly:

Red Orchestra

Company of Heroes

S.W.A.T. 4

Armed Assault

Medival 2: Total War

Counter Strike

America's Army

I use my xbox 360 for games like battlefield, call of duty, gta 4, and all newer games. My PC gaming takes me for some fun usually offline and hardly ever multiplayer. However, my younger brother is looking for a computer so i could give him this one and look for a more powerful one. If i were to do that what would any of you suggest for a new computer? Most likely its going to be way too much not because i dont have the funds but because there would be no WAY in heck i'd spend that much on a computer.

That's because those games are all old. Very old, by industry standards. The Pentium 4 processor was last manufactured in the year 2005, and is operating on a single core. Those types of processors are extinct in desktops now, save for the Celeron for workstations and old people who don't want to spend much money to send an e-mail. The graphics solution you have is integrated I believe. And I'd rather you go out and feed yourself for 6 days instead of buy a 9500GT. That card is old, crappy and costs almost as much as your "pretty much brand new" computer. You're under-specced on everything except hard drive and sound. My computer was similar to your specs from 2003-2006. Then I upgraded to a dual core. I wouldn't even suggest you get a dual core at this point in time, as six cores will become more readily available soon.

For a machine that would run most modern games pretty well, you'd be looking at somewhere between $6-800 if you built it yourself, probably a bit more if you bought it at a retail store like Best Buy. Gaming PCs are indeed expensive. But you'll have to look at it like a Mac. Either you appreciate what it is and what it does for the price, or you don't. Not everyone can see or use the value in the purchase.

You can refer to something like this for a guide, but you may change some things out as prices go up and down, and new hardware comes out. This is a ~$500 gaming PC: http://www.tomshardw...ng-pc,2970.html

You have to keep in mind, those are very old games. Your computer is from 2000, circa, and GTA IV is from 2007 - alot of things happened in 7 years.

As for a new system, you could get a low-end system capable of running GTA IV for about $240, but you'd still have to play it with lowest settings possible.

Exactly what i mean. I know my computer is way old or not up to par with modern systems but that is exactly what i bought it for. To play all my old games that i use to love and enjoy. So i see the value in my purchase and i am happy with it.

My question has been answered.

The most i could ever see myself spending on a gaming computer would be $400. I don't mind low settings or anything since i will never play games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Gear, Crysis, ect on the PC.

@*somebody* - my graphics card is not built in...i added it.

@*another somebody* - If not a 9500 gt then what? I know my system can run some of my games better with something great that an 8800.

If you walk into a computer electronics store right now, there will be only one or two options for ANY computer under $400. You're not thinking realistically, this isn't like buying an XBOX. They aren't "all set" for 7 years with no maintenance or upgrades until the next generation comes out. That's because they do more and as a consequence they change more. The machine should be an investment unless you feel like switching out parts or buying a new desktop every 2-3 years.

As far as the graphics card, you'd be best off buying something that wasn't made in the year 2006. Try the GTX400 or GTX500 series if you're looking for a more modern nVidia card. But for the budget conscious gamer, an AMD card will probably give you better value. Use that link at the end of my post. That configuration isn't half bad for the price.
