GTA 4 - Everything going black except the radar

Featured Replies

Hi.

I've been having this problem for quite a while now and I can't seem to get it away. When I'm playing, the whole screen goes black and I can still move about, shoot etc but the only thing that is on the screen is the radar. To get the game working again, I have to close it down and restart it.

This just happened on a completely fresh install of GTA 4 with absolutely no mods installed.

Specs -

Intel Pentium D 930 3GHz Dual Core Processor

2.5GB of RAM

NVidia GeForce 7800 GTX 500mb

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit

1TB Hard Drive

reset your graphics settings.

i do is just go in game and raise all the settings or i think there a reset option in the game menu.

You have minimal RAM and your vid card is 500meg...that's the problem.  Although I suspect that your graphics card is using vRam, chewing up your already scant RAM.  Try adding 8-16gigs.

Also, you can try to turn off shadows, reduce view and detail distances to under 15, and car density under 20, texture quality to medium/low and reflectons to med/low.

Good luck!

Fresh install of Windows 7, fresh install of GTA 4 via Steam with no mods installed - it still happens. It doesn't matter whether I'm running the game at medium or at 800x600 with everything turned off, it still happens after about 10 minutes of gameplay.
