3DS Model Question

Featured Replies

I was looking and found this website with fire engines and ambulance that have already been modeled, and are in 3DS form. If I were to buy one, what would I have to do to import it into the game and would it require a lot of work? I don't know much at modeling. Also is this a reliable site? Thanks. Heres the site: http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/2011-ambulance-e-450-3d-model/571194

I'm not sure if it's reliable, but you cant just import it you have to have it as a 3ds file and convert it to GTA IV through zmodeler. I wouldn't buy it or try and convert it until you got some experience.

That model has way too many polygons, IV would throw a hissy fit and refuse to run if you installed it.

Unless of course, you spent months modifying the model so that less polygons were used.

Ok, thank you. Lets say I bought a model that has less polys and it is in 3DS form, and then how easy would it be to convert it?

Well you would have to separate all the parts, add dummys, re texture it name the textures the right names for IV so that they show up. I'd say really hard if not impossible for a new car modder.

Umh, if you've never done anything with 3D modelling, you're not gonna be able to convert it. It takes a lot of skill and patience to convert a model to GTA IV.

Due to the graphic nature of this post, reader discretion is advised.
