So, i read that they were going to replace the Crown Victorias with the Taurus(YAY). Do you have any info of when or which places first?

I read that 2012 but I'm not sure.

Not sure but it is a possibility alot of forces are going to start using the carbon motors interceptor too with the BMW diesel its a little more pricey so I'm sure we will see more of the Taurus.

Some departments already have them in their fleet. My department got around 6 of them and are using them as command/detective vehicles just to trial them out so to speak... But I don't see our department ordering any more soon we still have our Crown Victoria's that get the snot beat out of them.

Police departments will probably be picking either the new Ford Tauruses (more than likely this will be the dominant one since Ford usually gives the best deals on fully marked cruisers), the new Chevy Caprice or the new Dodge Charger. An unmarked Dodge Charger costs just slightly less than a fully marked Crown Victoria and offers less drag and a higher top speed.

The Taurus will probably be the car of choice because it can be very easily repaired being an American brand, Ford has the best bulk law enforcement discount, they're dependable cars by nature and it has the best power/gas mileage combination. The Crown Victoria had a large V8 with a racing chip in it with a limiter plate. The new Ford Taurus SHO Interceptor will have a V6 but will be turbo charged offering faster acceleration, potential top speed (again I'd assume they'll use limiting plates again) and much better fuel efficiency.

This is coming from someone who works for their sheriff as a volunteer (me). The dodge charger is gonna be the only thing you're gonna see that's new, really. About every other sheriff's office in my area is still using the Ford Crown Victoria up to the '11 model, the impala, and charger. I have not seen one Taurus or Caprice within 750 miles of my county.

Until the Vics NEED to be replaced (by things like mileage and use over time) than I wont be expecting anything for the next couple of years. But from what I have seen some agency's who get the BIG portion of the states budget have been experimenting with these new models (LAPD, BCSO, etc)

Yes, most of it is budget based. Also remember that the interceptor doesn't even officially come out until 2012 according to Ford. The new Charger is already out, and I just recently learned about the new Caprice. It was discontinued in the late 1990's in the states, but oddly enough has been living on in the middle east this entire time. The charger looks the most appealing, and should have the best top speed. It has really terrible 0-60 acceleration for what the car is supposed to be used for though. Taurus wins out on that one. No idea how much it costs. That will be a determining factor for sure. They may buy them because of what the departments can save on fuel. The F.T.O. at my local department told me that sometimes the cars fun for days non-stop, one officer will hand it off to the other when his shift is over while it's still running. So fuel and dependability will determine everything.

The town I used to live in just got a set of brand new '11 Crown Vics. I don't think they are getting the Taurus anytime soon. The town I live in now, I don't know there story but they still have the old school lights mixed up with led lights on there Crown Vics. They just got a brand new Ford Explorer for traffic witch is the only new car that I know of they got. The county sheriff get's the left overs from the local towns around the county when they get new cars for there fleet.

Yes my sheriff bought new '11 vics as well. About the Taurus... I have already seen at least one agency who bought the Taurus and uses it as a Undercover vehicle. Clearly its not the interceptor but it still looks very sharp.

That Carbon Motors is called E7, I have it in my IV. But I wanna replace it with a Charger, and when I saw that the Taurus was ELS V6 I screamed >:(

And, the Taurus replaces the Crown Vic. 2011.
