Need For Speed The Run

Recommended Posts

In The Run, players will participate in an "underground world of illicit, high stakes racing," in a race from San Francisco to New York, with stops through Las Vegas, Denver, Detroit, and many other locations. The cops aren't the only ones after the player though, as the player "blows across borders, weaves through dense urban traffic, rockets down icy mountain passes and navigates narrow canyons at breakneck speeds."[3] The Run is powered by DICE's Frostbite 2 engine, thus making the game the first non-shooter game to use the engine, which provides visuals and car physics that "hug the road even at top speeds all built around a gripping storyline." The Autolog feature from previous Need for Speed entries will return.[3]

The game's E3 2011 gameplay trailer indicates that the game will feature quick time events, with the player exiting their car and travelling on foot for the first time.

At the end of the trailer, a female voice is heard calling out 'Jack', therefore it is likely that the protagonist will have a name in this franchise.

New game information has revealed that the main character's name is indeed 'Jack'; he must win The Run in order to "save his life". The game features out-of-car action for the first time in the series, represented by quick-time events that include running across rooftops, taking out cops, and escaping wrecked cars in precarious situations.[4]

Never been a big fan of the newer NFS titles, for me Underground 2 (which I played in my childhood) was one of the last good NFS titles. I'll see how The Run performs, surely some of my friends will get it, I assume; it's interesting that it uses Frostbite 2.0, which is a extremely praised engine, which sounds promising, although I suspect TR to have the arcady handling of always.

Due to the graphic nature of this post, reader discretion is advised.

I only hope that this one is a bit like Underground because that was a good one (Like Break said). In NFS undeground - carbon you could modify your car and make it what you wanted (I think Undercover too...) Everything after that was just preset cars where you could only choose the color.

Nevertheless, i'll get it because I'm a big NFS fan.

well if you want to customize your car you better play Midnight Club. Always was the better Street Racing game (in my opinion)

Yea, even though i only played the 2nd Midnight Club i think it was, and it sucked, people in the streets looked more like sticks than people.

But the last one (LA i think or something) Was really good, my cousin had it and i used to play with him
