Lowest settings...WHY?

It depends of your computer case, having enough space to put the graphic card (it's a dual slot), and your motherboard, but if your motherboard handles a 7450 it should be ok for the 7850.

If you are not sure, look for the technology of your motherboard, should be AM3+ something like that.

Download OpenHardwareMonitor, run it, the first line is the name of your computer, and the second line is the reference of your motherboard. Search it on internet in order to find the specs.

But as I said, if you have a 7450, the 7850 should be supported by the motherboard, it's the same "family". The only "problem" is : having enough space to put the GPU.

If you live in a quite big city, you could go to a specialized shop.

  • Yup, looks like your card is not that great.  Same make as mine, not the same model.   That's where your problem lies.   Good luck!   DrDetroit

Okay we'll I guess I will be updating soon till then ill have to go back to the command line....thanks for the help though guys.

I don't know if you have seen this topic :

Maybe it will help you waiting for your brand new graphic card. Don't forget to make backups before tweaking the game.

Also, don't hesitate to look for consumers reviews for this graphic card or another. Several suggestions are better than one.

Tell us when you have your new GPU and if it runs well for your GTAIV.

EDIT : oh and thank you for the +1

Doesn't GTA4 have an auto graphics setting tool in the options menu? I would go in there, click on auto detect best setting and if it recommending you play on the lowest settings you will need to upgrade your PC, that's what I had to do.
