What do you think is the best video recorder is for recording GTA IV without lag?

Featured Replies

As I said a few months ago, use bandicam, the only thing I don't like about bandicam is it can't pick up on more then 2 different program sounds. Like if im talking on teamspeak and playing a game the game will either be really load and my voice will be very quiet or the other way around.  BTW you have to buy both...

Well I played with both, and I have these results:

BandiCam:

  • Watermark - Con
  • Texture Loss (It puts your systemfor me on a bunch of ware and tare[for me]) - Con
  • Small File Size - Pro
  • Frame Rate drops, but nearly equal to FRAPS

FRAPS:

  • Massive File Size - Con
  • No Watermark - Pro
  • No texture loss - Pro
  • Framerate Drop - It's going to happen with anything

Considering I cannot record an invisible gameplay video... I prefer FRAPS, though bandicam is much more nicer, just doesn't work to good on my computer.

if you look at any of my videos that I upload to YouTube, I use Bandicam and I have no issues. Your texture loss could be coming because Bandicam uses a more powerful compression technology, and to keep it's speed it, you might loose some texture (my guess).

I always record and publish in 1080p, and it's amazing. To get even more reduction of FPS drop, I record to an external hard drive, so the drive with GTA is not too busy reading and writing at the same time. I loose 5FPS max while recording with bandicam, 10 and more with FRAPS.

Plus Bandicam has 2 sound recording sources, last I checked FRAPS, it did not.

Bandicam gets my vote as it's tried and tested and has proven itself.

I use ACTION recorder is the best recorder to play GTA IV with HANDS DOWN it has everything you need with so many options.

here's a example video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=709Fwp9NkeU

and the great part about it when you're done recording you can export and with a smaller file size.

Before you go telling people what has cons and what has pros use the programs 1st. The only difference between FRAPS and Bandicam is that bandicam uses a different file format that makes it easier on the computer... So in every signal way besides that they are almost the same.... But with bandicam that different file format it makes the files really big, unlike fraps that uses a different format that uses more CPU power then bandicam...

I actually did use both programs. How else would I have stated that I experience texture loss with bandicam if I haven't used it?

Considering this is about to turn into a flame war, if you want to continue this conversation you can PM me about it with any other issues you may have.

I prefer Fraps, although I've never tried Bandicam. Fraps just seems a lot more professional. The only downside to Fraps is I have to lower my settings a lot. Without Fraps, I can run maxed out settings.

FRAPS is much better than Bandicam. I have the paid version of both. First of all, Bandicam gave me quite a big FPS drop (40 not recording, 20 when recording.) On top of that, the codec that Bandicam uses isn't supported by Sony Vegas, even with the Vegas preset! There's MAJOR quality loss when converting it. I've tried both Vegas 10 and Vegas 12, doesn't work with either.

Switched to FRAPS, and now get a 5-10 FPS drop. I love FRAPS, it imports into Vegas perfectly too. No loss of quality on top of that. Yes, the files are huge, but I edit and delete them right away, it isn't a problem at all. I'll make a recording comparison video as soon as I get the chance.

  • 1 month later...

I've tried many options out first hand. From what I experenced, Fraps would never work correctly for me. It would record for about half a second and stop. DxTory nnever recorded my audio correctly and a lot of my videos had no commentary. Right now I am using Bandicam and it is working very nicely. It doesn't lag my game at all and it records just as clear as my game settings are.

Here's a video I did using Bandicam:

EDIT: Greetings to the guy who lives in the county next to me ^ lol.
