Arma 3 Alpha Release!

Featured Replies

I bought it, think its alot of fun, but I find the TONS of different functions for controls are very nerve racking when you get into a hella fire fight. Only if they could make it more simpler and user friendly for ones not used to the ARMA2 controls cause you can in the settings revert using arma2's default controls, but I know you can remap functions, but there's just way too much!!! IMHO

I think they did it just right, the vehicles aren't too futuristic, they look different but they do look somewhat real.

I am looking for a mod that converts the vehicles from ARMA2, hopefully they'll add a few more to the mix while they're at it.

Eh... I felt they went a tad over board with one of the vehicles (cannot specifically remember, it's the vehicle you sit in the middle of in the drivers seat) however they weren't totally off basis and one of the other vehicles they included. One of which is already in service in Iraq and Afghanistan today, just a tad updated by BI:

The new vehicles are cool and will be enjoyable, but I know for a fact I'm going to miss my Humvee when I start using IED scripts :teehee:.

Trust me if anything is a pain in a firefight that is very intense it's the controls in ArmA 2, they were extremely clunky and nothing ever felt right, not to mention it was impossible to get into cover. They've come a long way with the Infantry game play in this game and I gotta say it's better than ever, not to mention I'd rather have a more complicated system where I have more control over my movements rather than something that is some what dumbed down for the general user base. At least this way it's going to be the same with ArmA2 OA, that you will need to sit down and invest some time to really get a full grasp of the game and what it really stands for (A Simulation, not a shot em up like most people want to play these days, unfortunately). When I first played the game it felt more of the lines of something smooth feeling such as other more focused FPS games (Which was desperately needed). However I will agree it needs some tuning, I'm not particularly in love with how you change stances (Love the new stance feature, hate how you use it), it's a tad clunky. I'll be in the middle of a firefight and trying to duck down and at times I don't even know what stance I'm in or if it even changed. Not to mention they really need to incorporate FOV sliders, the camera is just way too close!

I'm loving the game so far over all, it really feels like a good sequel to a game I've already clocked over 500 hours in (ArmA2 OA). Just needs some tuning and fixes here and there but hey, it's an alpha. :P

I didn't realize it included all of that. This is actually a great deal in comparison to what I thought it was. I might have to buy this now.

On the subject of Arma, does anyone know when the standalone DayZ game is coming out?
