Traffic Stop Scenarios

Featured Replies

It seems to me, something that appears to be over looked with traffic stops is the potential scenarios a driver and/or passenger could put you through.

Now granted, I'm only watching a slew of YouTube videos from dozens of users, so I may not know everything.

But it seems like there are three options the driver has.  They can either pull over, and submit their information to the officer, take off when the officer approaches the vehicle on foot, or completely ignore the lights, sirens and directives to pull over.

Now, those three scenarios are completely valid, as they happen with an ill-advised frequency.

However, there are a number of scenarios being missed here.

One, the driver could have their car radio turned up full blast, and be a complete **** by not cooperating.  A more modern day equivalent, they're on their cell phone with "an important business" call, which ultimately ends up being their "mommy."

They could jump out of the car and act completely irrational, or like they don't know who you are or what planet they're on.

They could be shooting heroin into their veins and tell you to hold on, as their three year old sits in the backseat crying uncontrollably.

Or really, the absolute worst--they come right out of the driver and/or passenger seat shooting a gun.  I've seen handguns, rifles, shotguns, guns that couldn't be explicitly identified because they were someone's backyard lathe job.  Either way, this one here is a crucial one missing from the game that should indeed be in there.

But again, I don't play this game as of yet, I've just been watching a lot of videos.  If traffic stop scenarios have already been exhausted, then my apologies for my two cents, and carry on.

People can open fire at you from the car, or get out and start shooting at you. It does happen. In fact, there's a thread elsewhere complaining that it happens too often.

Mobile phones could be possible but I'm told the animation for that is a standing pose only so it'll look odd.

In terms of taking drugs, I don't think there's any animations for that.

It could be interesting though for there to be a chance for it to say 'driver refuses to provide their ID', leaving you with the only option of pulling them out of the car yourself.

comply

flee

resist (aka uzi in your face)

these are the 3 outcomes generated at random by the game.

they are reset every time you begin interaction with driver and have no past history. for instance, a driver that complied and has no gang affiliation or such can at random start shooting at you after you return to the vehicle, since now you've reset the interactions and the outcome is generated at random once more.  the secondary generation could be taken out, however that will result in them never getting spooked after you run their papers which also isn't realistic when it comes to real life. So while its stupid somebody with no history will start blasting at your face, it is there for a reason.

there have been many suggestions as to things that could be added or tweaked (within realm of possibility with gta limitations) but all have fallen on deaf ears. so what you have now is what will be. make the best of it!

Yea, you can get gunned down fairly easy during traffic stops, especially in certain high-crime areas.  If in "realistic" mode, you can only take a few point blank rounds before you're dead, so you gotta stay alert even when approaching a grandmother driving a Bentley during a traffic stop.

All kinds of things go down that you'd never expect to see in a game that makes LC feel alive and dangerous.  Pretty amazing piece of code.

Good day,

I get questions like yours all the time on my videos.

As far as I know, the driver ignoring the officer part happens to me when playing online. If a player gets to close to the vehicle I pulled over or attempting to, the vehicle will just ignore me and keep driving. and vice versa. On single player, it has never happened unless I'm using some sort of script that spawn vehicles and I try to pull over that same spawned vehicle "Ex.The abandon vehicle Cleanup script". Again, it has never happened to me so I would like see this implemented into lcpdfr script in future updates.

The driver jumping out of the car after a traffic stop I never got to see something like it in singleplayer, but I have plenty of times in multiplayer. Like I said above, Only when another player or myself get to close to each others suspects. I had moments when my online partner pulls over a vehicle, I arrive and provide backup. I get out and walk to the passenger side door and my partner proceeds with his traffic stop. Next thing we know the driver jumps out of the car and casually walks away.

There is a feature where the driver will jump out of the car after you approach the driver door, but he will most likely pull out an uzi or a shotgun out of his crotch and gun you down before you can react. Happens to me all the time.
