Game won't start with VFS.dll file in GTA directory

I'm having issues getting my game to work with LML enabled. Every time VFS.dll is in my root directory, my game won't load at all. As soon as I removed the file my game continues to work normally. Is there a fix available for this, or have I simply made an error during the installation?
