How do i use 360 controller with play and charge cable?

i know there are lots of threads but i cant seem to find a good answer, i have tried using xpadder or whatever and it doesnt really recognize the controller, so if someone could give me a quick tutorial please

You cant do it using the charge and play you need either a hardwired controller or get a 360 reciver for you computer

Also, if you get the reciever or the cabled controller, you won't need XPadder, because GTA IV recognizes those controllers and their respective windows drivers.

GTA IV doesn't recognize the PS3 controller, unfortunately. So afaik you'd have to use a third party program to make it work.
