FPS/ Lagging help!

Hi I am having a pretty major graphics and lagging problem. I have LCPD:FR installed along with:

car mods

ped skins

Police Helper

Tow Service

Coroner Mod

Bravehearts' script

ELS v6

This maybe too much, but it lagged even before I installed those (but I didn't have a command line

installed then)!

PC Specs:

Toshiba laptop Windows 7

Intel Core i3 processor CPU, 2.40GHz M 370

RAM: 6.00GB (5.80GB usable)

64 bit operating system

Total available graphics memory: 1696 MB

Dedicated Video Memory: 64MB

I have put a commandline in and have lowered all graphics. I might also try taking ars and skin and extra mods off, just have LCPDFR and non-ELS cars?

Would that help?

if anyone could help that would be really appreciated!

Regards fbo194

Hmmmm, a laptop isn't the best thing to run GTAIV on. GTAIV demands a lot of CPU power. I think that cpu you have is only a dual core. I have a Toshiba laptop myself and i know it struggles to run any games, even Minecraft LOL. The best thing you could do is build yourself a decent desktop computer if you can afford it. I wouldn't go out and buy one because you can save money by building your own. If not then I would uninstall GTA and install a fresh copy. Make a backup of the fresh install just in case something goes wrong. Then start tinkering with the graphics settings starting with the lowest settings possible and no mods. If you find the right settings then you can start adding mods one by one and testing them. All computers are different so it might be just one setting that needs to be adjusted or maybe all. You could also buy a better laptop.

Uninstalling it and re-installing it isn't a bad idea. It may sound like its pointless and I thought the same thing until I tried it the other day. I was having problems with the game crashing with a RESC10 error saying that there was no more video memory left(when there was plenty of memory left) when I would try and spawn cars. So I uninstalled it and re-installed and now it fixed that problem somehow. Yeah it takes a lot of time to do the install and to make the backup but if it works for you and improves your game play then its worth it right? He's also right that a laptop isn't the best thing but if thats all you have and can't afford a new desktop then there isn't much else you can do. You could try and remove some of the mods and turn down graphics to lowest settings. If you re-install the game just start slow, add one mod at a time and see how the game handles it.

Okay thanks for all the help guys, I suspected what you think about my laptop! However I can't really afford a desktop computer so I will try the re-installing trick and one mod at a time sounds like a very good idea! It is strange though because I can run GTA San Andreas very well with mods and textures, even a color mod enhancement!

Also have any of you heard of "graphic enhancement" , I don't really know what it is but it was mentioned in another post for decreasing lag for low-end computers?!

Thanks fbo194.

Graphics enhancement mods are made to make your game look better like iCEnhancer or any ENB mods. Most of the time they require more power to use them so you will get lower performance. On rare occasions people report that they actually have improved performance when using a certain type graphic enhancing mod but that rarely happens. I doubt you will get better performance with what you're using sorry :(. There are some mods like that I even wish i could use but i don't have the power to run them. :/
