When should I start the mod? I just installed Episodes from Liberty city from Steam and started the Ballad of Gay Tony. Should I progress in the story and then press alt+p or how exactly?

Because I press alt p and and I get a message saying "Duty Forced" and thats it

  • You didn't install it wrong. You're pressing the wrong keys. Just press CTRL + ALT + P. You're welcome.

  • If you want low-poly and lore friendly go for Lt.Caine's (GPM) and Ekalb's cars. I've made some reskins for them (shameless self advertising FTW!). Also I recommend you to check out Abraxas' PoliceHel

Your pressing the wrong key combination, your pressing: CTRL + ALT +P, It's only just ALT + P, after that on your map you will see what are stars, these indicate police stations, drive down to them, step inside the red circle and the rest is pretty self explanatory.

Have I installed it wrong? Because Im still just getting "Duty Forced" and the character gets a baseball bat out, but thats it.

I downloaded the mod from here:

The directory I installed it to was to; D:\STEAM\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV Episodes from Liberty City\EFLC

What am I missing?

do this first

choose a cop ped with your trainer

then

Left ALT and P simultaneously - Starts LCPDFR.

Left CONTROL and P simultaneously - Forces the start of LCPDFR, skipping character and car selection.

no since in driving to a station and doing all that stuff inside takes to long lol

all so if u want cop voice hit CTRL-DELETE that will reset your ped so u have the voices of it

also f7 if u want to be busy or not

What do you mean a "Cop ped" with my trainer? Im afraid I lost you here, sorry :?

The problem is that Ive seen people play with the mod in youtube, and when they start it, they get a lot of icons appearing on their map and a longer message than mine. All I get is "Duty Forced", and thats what I pressed, just alt+p.

This seems to be causing more confusion than needed. Alt P should bring up a message saying drive to a station. Im not sure if it matters, but use Left alt just in case. If that doesnt work, Id suggest reinstalling LCPDFR

How do I reinstall it? Or uninstall it? I can't exactly see which files it creates since its an automatic installation, in the Episodes From Liberty City folder in Steam.

It should be in the scripts file. Anything that says firstresponse (possibly in the main directory as well, I dont remember). My advice is to uninstall GTA completely, and reinstall. Once you do that, copy everything and make a clean, untouched, GTA that you can fall back on if you make an unfixable error (Ahem.. ENB). I know steam takes awhile, but itll be worth it in the long run. Once you reinstall everything, reinstall LCPDFR and if it still doesnt work, we will go from there. But it should. The steam install directory is always confusing for an install, as it is so long, but make sure everything goes into its appropriate place.

Ok I got it to work  Im not sure what was wrong. But last night I deleted the whole game, and started downloading it again. I pressed left alt and P for some reason and it worked.

How can I get more police models though? can anyone recommend any?

Good to hear! For police models, I love the cvpi and charger pack. The LA pack is also pretty good. Just be weary of texture loss and frequent crashing (possibly) if you have ELS. Honestly, there are so many models, its hard to pick favourites.

Edit* Here is my favourite CVPI to date, just because of the awesome galaxy lightbar. http://www.mediafire.com/?u684cyjyofbbt1q

Oh cool I'll have to look around for more things. Though I forgot to ask, where should I put the downloaded files? the police skins or the car's etc..

At first it may seem a bit overwhelming for me but I hope I can start downloading more mods :p

To install the car mods, you need a program called sparkIV (simpler, I think) or Open IV. There is a learning curve, but its not too complicated. Look it up on youtube. I have a separate folder full of car mods, all you have to do is unzip them and install with spark 4. If your computer is a bit slower, definitely do what yard said and find low poly mods.

Yeah I did come across SparkIV but I hesitated but I may give it a go soon :)

And what about the police personnel models? Is it the same process or do I do something else?
