Issue: I get error each time I try to play GTA from the RAGE .exe file. The error reads "Could not hook game process. Insufficient permissions or bad anti-virus. Please try again. If the problem persists, please restart your computer." - I'm pretty sure it's not my computer hardware or my anti-virus because this isn't my first time playing. But every single time I've played it was with my Steam owned copy. Now that I have to play with my Rockstar Warehouse/Rockstar Launcher copy, this is happening. Another thing that is new is that I'm now using Razer Cortex. It helps my FPS and stuff. I've already tested in game before installing LSPDFR 0.4 and it went from a normal 20FPS to a sharp 50-80FPS, even got to 90FPS at one point so I don't  think Cortex is the problem either but it could be since I literally installed it hours before LSPDFR.

Troubleshooting: 

1. I've restarted my computer.
2. I've launched RAGE with admin perms about 3 times.
3. I've looked online for fixes, I only found one thing which wasn't a fix but rather a workaround of this very annoying error that I'm shook more people isn't talking about. I haven't tried the workaround yet, but everyone who tried it says it works but like 30 minutes more of effort just to play a game I shouldn't have to take extra measures for. If I can't find anything, I'll have to do it sadly.

 

If you guys have any fixes or tips then let me know. I'll take it all lol

Note:
- I'm on Windows 10.
- I'm on a rig, not a laptop.
- Yes, all of my software, hardware, and applications involved are updated to the newest additions.

You probably won't like this but what anti-virus do you use? Because the answer to the issue is exactly what it says "Insufficient Permissions or Bad Anti-Virus".

My anti-virus is the basic, come with the computer, Windows Defender thing that's on here by default. I'll try adding a exception for the entire GTA folder. I'll let you know if it fixes it.

EDIT: No, adding it as an exception did not fix it sadly, 😭.

Have you tried changing your DirectX version to 10? You can do that via the RPH Settings Menu.

Just tried it. No luck still. I'm going to keep trying some stuff. If I ever find the solution I'll post it in this thread for future readers.

If you have an issue with RPH, actually contribute and post your RPH Crash Log so someone can help you fix it instead of complaining and contributing nothing towards the goal of having an enjoyable game you can play. Thanks. 🙂

That last thing I installed was LSPDFR itself. I wanted to start playing LSPDFR again because I found a way to gain some more FPS without upgrading my actual computer hardware, so since I already had GTA installed, I came to the site and did the automatic install of LSPDFR, and as soon I start to launch that's when the issues started happening. I already have a complete list of mods, plugins, etc that I want to install but I didn't get to that point because I couldn't even run the game with just LSPDFR by itself because of the error.

 

Sorry any of my messages sound rude, I'm not very good with tone and emotion and all that stuff so if I sound really rude and pushy I'm not I swear, I appreciate you just even responding to my message.

No you are all good! 🙂 What I would recommend is using the manual installation. I think it is a lot easier for newer people to LSPDFR. Just remember that once you download it, you have to extract it.

Make sure you disable GeForce Overlay if you have it. 
And uninstall RivaTuner. (It comes with MSI Afterburner).

 

Also, what is the name and path of your GTA V folder? Did you move it or rename it?

Sorry, just saw this message. I don't have GeForce, RivaTuner, or MSI Afterburner.
And I got the game to work, but I had to make a completely new Windows 10 user on my computer, so it's not really a fix, just a workaround. But if you got any ideas, I'm down bc playing on my actual user would be much better.

The name of my GTA folder is just the normal Grand Theft Auto V. The path is listed below. The folder I'm playing on right now is NOT the original. It's a copy of the original, so that way I can keep the original GTA folder as a backup, because it's better to be safe than sorry. The original GTA folder, I renamed to GTA NonModded and it's currently in My Documents.

My GTA folder path that I'm playing on right now is just called, C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V.

I'm so sorry, I'll do better next time! I just figured since it was with RageHook and had nothing to do with LSPDFR I thought it would go with general GTA.
