Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

You put the wrong keybind in the .ini. It should be LShiftKey instead.

Well, LShiftKey or LControlKey doesn't work! What do you mean with the old key bindings like Control doesn't work anymore? Nothing works! Only keybinding set to None works.

yeah, its still crashing for me.. here is my INI.

Probably because you typed in LShiftkey with a lower case k in key.. Mine says LShiftKey

This is in your .ini .. You notice that the ( k ) is lowercase in LShiftkey below

I like the mod what you have made verry much :)

but te mod crashes every time.

i have changed the key modifier but nothing works i cant search anny vehicle with shift or g.

maybe i'm doing something wrong?

Is it possible you have LShiftKey + G bound to another Plugin or to something else?

the LShiftKey and the g arrent used by anny other plugin

LShiftKey only run and g make snowbals but even if i change those it doesn't work

and i cant think on something else what could interfare with it.

A crash log would be very helpful. Post the RAGEPluginHook.log file that's in your GTA main directory.

The latest version of this isn't working with 0.3. In the log it says ' Vehicle Search v2.1.7: System.ArgumentException: The specified type is not an Enum type.' Is this a common problem?

It should still work even though it says that in the log. If you're getting a crash (Vehicle Search v2.1.7 has crashed! message) then post your crash log.

By the way, you don't have to load up gta v and press f4 to load the mod, you can just go into the game directory, open startup.rhps in notepad, then add the same as what you would but instead of [LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll] It would be [LoadPlugin "VehicleSearch.dll"] with the speech marks :thumbsup: .

Great mod! It is very useful to be equipped with a life jacket when you are away from the police base and also to equip yourself with an extra weapon ... However, I wonder whether we can change the items that we found in the car's trunk the police? For example: instead of finding a Carbine Rifle, find a Special Carbine? If possible, could you explain us how to do?

I'm planning on adding the ability to change the weapons in police trunks.

It may be because of my Add-On MoreItem's v1.5/v1.6.

If you do have it, I recommend you replace your old VehicleSearch.ini (located in GTA V > Plugins) with the new v1.6a of MoreItem's.

Versions 1.5 and 1.6 caused a keybinding error, and I found that v1.5 was the cause but am working on what exactly caused it.

Hi, it's crashing for me since i updated to LSPDFR v0.3 i have tried changing the version of script hook and removing all plugins not updated for LSPDFR v0.3 but it still crashes. Thank You

I don't even know how you got a hold of a version as old as that one. You have to download the newest version.

You already have RPH 34 installed according to your log. I think he is referring to your Vehicle Search Version

You are on Vehicle Search v2.0.6 and you want to be on version 2.1.7. Just click on the download button above and install the newer version of the Plugin

ahh thank you, that sorted the problem. just a quick one, the LSPDFR mod keeps crashing. When i press F4 i see the message "Couldn't run albo1125 even though it was found" any ideas? sorry if this is abit off topic
