Cryptic Callouts is my first LSPDFR callout pack, made for Grand Theft Auto V Legacy. It started as a small hobby project and has grown into a pack of 20 callouts covering investigations, robberies, violent incidents, traffic-related calls and pursuits.
Some scenes call for an immediate response. Others give you time to speak with a caller, hear different accounts and decide how to handle the people involved. Suspect behaviour and outcomes can vary between incidents.

NPCAI Integration
When NPCAI is installed and enabled, eligible people in a callout receive context about their role and the incident. This helps them give accounts based on what they did or witnessed, while keeping their knowledge consistent as the scene develops.
NPCAI is optional. Cryptic Callouts can be played without it.
Requirements
Grand Theft Auto V Legacy
LSPDFR
RAGE Plugin Hook
Installation
Extract the download into your main Grand Theft Auto V Legacy directory, keeping the folder structure in the archive intact.
The plugin belongs in:
Grand Theft Auto V\plugins\LSPDFR\
The configuration file is located at:
Grand Theft Auto V\plugins\LSPDFR\CrypticCallouts.ini
If the configuration file is missing, Cryptic Callouts creates one when it first loads. If you are updating from an older version, back up your current configuration and read the release notes before replacing files.
The configuration file lets you enable or disable individual callouts, adjust spawn distances and street-racing vehicle counts, change the controls and toggle NPCAI compatibility.
The default controls are:
J - Talk or continue an investigation
K - Issue a command
H - Clear a resolved callout
End - Manually end a callout
About the Project
This is my first LSPDFR callout pack, and it has been a learning experience from the beginning. I’ve continued to rebuild and improve it as I’ve tested new ideas, fixed problems and listened to feedback.
My goal is to make each update more reliable while giving you a wider range of incidents to handle on patrol.
Cryptic Mods Community
You can learn more about the project and find the Discord server through the Cryptic Mods community site.
Documentation and Support
The Cryptic Mods Documentation contains installation, configuration and troubleshooting information.
Feedback and Bug Reports
You can submit suggestions, feature requests and bug reports through the Cryptic Mods Community Feedback Hub.
If you report a problem, please include the callout name, what happened immediately beforehand and the relevant RAGE Plugin Hook log where possible. Those details help me investigate it.
Thanks for downloading and supporting Cryptic Callouts.

Reworked residential caller placement to find a suitable position near the caller’s property.
Reworked vehicle placement to search outward for usable street positions and avoid overlapping callout vehicles.
Expanded the vehicle search to better handle locations such as rural junctions and divided roads.
Expanded the default spawn range to support authored locations throughout the map.
Changed the default controls to J for talk, K for command, H to clear a resolved callout, and End to abort.
Added migration for applicable older generated key and spawn-distance settings.

Added a Burglary in Progress scenario in which the reported person is a resident mistakenly identified as a possible burglar.
Reworked Road Rage’s investigation around accounts from the reporting driver and the accused driver, with different responses as the scene develops.
Revised scanner audio selection for callout dispatches. Custom callout audio already existed in v3.0.0.
Changed NPCAI handling so actively fleeing or fighting suspects remain under their scripted pursuit or combat behaviour.
Changed NPCAI context updates to retain a participant’s original case facts alongside later developments.
Fixed
Fixed the Volatile Pursuit passenger failing to shoot from the vehicle by restoring the earlier in-car weapon and combat setup.
Fixed the seated Volatile Pursuit passenger being added to the LSPDFR pursuit before their in-car combat behaviour could operate as intended.
Changed the Volatile Pursuit passenger to join the pursuit after leaving the vehicle.
Fixed Hit and Run failing to find a usable vehicle position in some areas by expanding its road-position search.
Fixed failed scene creation being retried every frame and duplicating partially spawned people or vehicles.
Added scene-error logging and kept the manual end control available if a scene cannot be completed.
Fixed unsupported NPCAI mood descriptions, including errors involving
Concerned,Calm,Shaken, andUpset.Fixed NPCAI context changes losing a participant’s original account of the incident.
Added NPCAI registration retries and queued context updates when the API is not ready immediately after a participant spawns.
Improved removal of NPCAI context when a participant’s conversation is suspended or the scene ends.
Improved cleanup of callout-owned people, vehicles, blips, and routes when a callout ends or is declined.
Notes
Version 4.0.0 rebuilds the 15 callouts from v3.0.0 and adds five new callouts, bringing Cryptic Callouts to 20 callouts in total.
The five additions are Assault in Progress, Criminal Damage, Hit and Run, Suspicious Person, and Vehicle Break-In. Existing callouts named above are listed for the changes made to them, not as new additions.
The Volatile Pursuit passenger’s in-vehicle gunfire was confirmed working during in-game testing. The observed Hit and Run vehicle spawn failure prompted the expanded position search; that change should not be described as a confirmed fix for the separate LSPDFR exception seen in the log.
Short Description
AI disclosure
The author has disclosed that AI tools were used in creating the following aspects of this file:
- Description
- Images
- Mod and Mod Content (Substantial)
Cryptic Callouts began as my own project, but AI has played a substantial role in its development. Claude wrote the v3.0.0 rewrite while I was focused on work, and ChatGPT assisted with the v4.0.0 rewrite, NPCAI integration, debugging and documentation. I directed the project, chose which changes to include and tested the gameplay, but I do not want to present the AI-assisted code as entirely hand-written by me.
