Met Police BMW 3 & Astra Pack 2008+ (ELS-7) 1.0

(11 reviews)

11 Screenshots

Metropolitan Police pack including BMW 3 Area car and matching Vauxhall Astra IRV. Both fitted with the same lightbar and equipment. Say goodbye to patchwork!

Recommended for use with the & the .

Special thanks to Craig Sizeland for converting the model!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ke6RxIJQgc

This pack comes with two models:

  • BMW 3 E90 2008 (Metropolitan Police, Area car w/911EP Galaxy Lightbar)
  • Vauxhall Astra Mk5 2008 (Metropolitan Police, IRV w/911EP Galaxy Lightbar)

BMW 3 E90

Area car used used for 999 response duties and vehicle pursuits. Galaxy lightbar, as with most vehicles equipped during 2007-09. Has a stolen vehicle tracker set just above the lightbar.

Vauxhall Astra Mk5

IRV used used for 999 response duties everyday patrol. The Met bought hundreds of these and they were the most common sight on the streets of London until recently, when the i30s entered service. Still seen quite frequently today.

This modification is the most accurate representation of the Met Police BMW 3 and Vauxhall Astras out there for GTA IV. Used on all boroughs.

* It is recommended you use the Whelen Sirens with this pack as both vehicles are fitted with them in real life. Internet Shortcut provided in download.

Your materials need work. The light and rim textures are awful. Also, where are you credits pertaining to the author of the models? The liveries are done well, though.

Wow! Constructive criticism is the key for modders! However you SIr have just been a massive bell!!! The lights and rim textures are fine! If you have a problem then give him details on what need fixing instead of being a dick and just saying there awful. He has worked hard on them and some recognition for what he has done would be great to help him make even more class models! So when you can come back and give him some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism then what you say will be valid and will be listened too!

He did say what needs fixing: The lights. They're simply wrong. Look at the actual Astra's taillights or the 3 series' headlights and you'll see what's different. The rim textures seem to be just plain grey without proper normals and reflections.

So in other words, sugar coat the truth? He said it straight forward, what do you want?

Oh DD, your vehicles are AMAZING but there is a slight, very slight barely noticeable problem in your amazing model that I suggest with highest respect and regard to your feelings that you fix. Shall we talk more over a cup of tea?

Excuse me? I provided something which I see to be constructive, unlike your insulting comments towards me. You're just proving what an incompetent moron you are, go jingle your bells elsewhere.

I totally agree with Cj24 and KevinDV in this case. They have more experience in both zmod and 3dsmax than the most of us have.

As stated, they weren't my conversions. I simpily built upon them. I could have a go at fixing nearly everything up but that would probably take ages. When I convert some models over then I can start having a look at things. But for the moment, they stay as they are - it's GTA. Not Arma - I don't have to go into nearly every detail that ends up getting washed out by an ENB. I could go back to modding things the way I used to for Arma, but spending 3 months+ for just one car while others may be releasing the same thing while you're working on details most people won't probably notice seems just sad. Especially since many people anticipated this mod and didn't want to wait forever for it to be released.

It obviously takes some time, but if you want to have the most accurate cars for IV, as you claim to do, you need to correct mistakes. I actually don't see why an ENB removes details either, it usually even improves their visibility.

I'm going to include a degree of accuraccy that's appropriate to the mod - since most people use ENBs and anticipated this mod for quite a while, it would be illogical to concentrate on details that most of them won't notice. Since these are the closest out there when I made them, they remain as they are, the most accurate. I don't focus on vehicle conversions at the moment, I focus on police setups. I'll fix up something if it looks absolutely dreadful, but I won't go spending 2 days modelling a wingmirror and measuring everything by 5 s.f. cm.

To all those whining: Don't like it? Don't download and rate then. Simple as that. Why are you even downloading it if you don't like it I wonder?

Ever thought about people downloading a mod to try it out and decide whether they like it, depending on the actual quality?

At the end of the day, we're on the internet, a place where people aren't as considerate in how they word their messages, KevinDV may not have meant something negative in his review but his tone was interpreted as such. It's the egg vs. chicken, should Kevin, someone who knows a lot about car modding not leave reviews on files and potentially leave out useful information for people because it might be seen as offensive by some people or should he try and provide as much input he can. Sure, saying that the materials are "wrong" only partially helps you out, you know what's wrong but you might not know how to fix it. A little stubbornness and some googeling usually does the job if that's the case (I didn't convert the new Charger to a PP because I knew how to, but because I wanted to, I had many problems and they weren't all easy to fix, but I got there at the end and learned a lot about car modding in the process)

Well, this seems to be an almost exact replica of another model by Doppler,

.

The cars in my opinion are good, I don't really like the light bar on the Astra but, hey ho, it's what they used, I can kind of see where Cj24 is coming from in terms of the wheels having no reflections, but that could be fixed fairly easily.

Please don't cause another flame war like you did on my last release.

Nice release as always DD, keep it up.

Keep this on topic please, to prevent any flame war can we make sure to keep this to reviews only? Thanks.

Opinions regarding materials aside, this is the only pack of accurate Met. police area and response vehicles with the galaxy setup.

I went ahead and reported your file a bit ago for lacking credits to the original author and see you fixed that now. (thanks)

Your models are good DD, and as NB said, the main issue is setting a bar that can be reached but as you said takes time to reach.
