Darker Nights 1.4

(7 reviews)

5 Screenshots

ABOUT:

If you want to have darker nights in GTAV but you don't want to use ENB or Shaders <--- these files are for you. It will change timecycle values without any graphic mods and fps drops. After installing via OIV you will experience some darkass nights! at night you will need to use searchlights, flashlights and heli assistance with searchlights in the dark. get some better immersion when you're at nightshift duty!

INSTALLATION:

1)  ALWAYS MAKE BACKUP FIRST!!!

2) Drop all (10 .xml) files located in "DN" into

     mods/update/update.rpf/common/data/timecycles

3) enjoy!

BEWARE:  This mod is for Singleplayer only! DO NOT USE MODS ONLINE OR YOU WILL GET BANNED!!!

KNOWN BUGS:  I haven't experienced this by myself but it is reported that it comes to graphic display bugs if you choose "cloudy" as weather option via trainer. I highly recommend to avoid this option until I have fixed that issue!   fixed in V1.2

V 1.1 :   edited all timecycle files for a better immersion and to fit better to daytime.

            simply overwrite all my old timecycle files with the new ones.

V1.2:   reattached a missing line in clouds.xml (thanks to wakandamuzik) so the cloudy weather issue belongs to the past.

            simply overwrite my old CLOUDS.XML with the new version.

V1.3:  small changes to all timecycle files.

V1.4:  bug fixing.

Great job, it works well, I only noticed an issue while I was testing it, selecting ''clouds'' weather with the trainer, the screen becomes all black and it becomes impossible to orient, with all the others the problem doesn't arise. It happened to someone else?

I've already tried to restore the original files and reinstall everything again but the issue persist.
I state that I don't use any graphic mod.

which trainer do you use? i only use simple trainer and i was not able to recreate this issue. so at this moment i have no clue what happened on your screen.

I have the same issue here. Take a look at this screen: image.thumb.png.2a6edf78b67cbb1703e8bc3223957112.png

This is showing up when you use simple trainer (CLOUDS). The other weather functions are all right.

Hi there,

I used this for a off-road trip up Mount Chiliad and my, it worked wonders.

What an experience it was in combination with this - so thank you.

In-case you weren't aware, sometimes the night sky can appear rather grainy as seen here. When in full screen it appears slightly more prominently than the screenshot suggests.

Otherwise you can see some of the screenshots I took if you'd like; it was a much welcomed addition to my game.

Best of luck with any future development!

@Charlie686 thank you for sharing your experience, i appreciate it. if i will find the time in future i will completely rework the files to get rid of the grain and other little details.

i'm glad you liked it on your trip through the wilderness of san andreas county!

kind regards!

The mod is great. Would love to see the grainy night sky fixed and the all on black out terrain during the night fixed as well. Apart from this, I can see the effort put in this! 👍

mod is good. although when I die and spawn back at the hospital my screen is just black. I can still see the map and move around but it's very dark. I went into a car and turned on the lights (both headlights and emergency) but still nothing. Not sure why but i figured that id let you know.

disregard. I'm just dumb lol.

For white cars it is very bright in the morning and you want to put any type of snow weather. just in fyi for those who have white cars.

Not sure if anybody else is experiencing this but when i replaced the time cycles i'd start my game up and load in and after about 20 secs of normal game play my screen goes completely black. i can hear the game, walk around and see the mini map etc. I took the mod out and replaced the normal time cycles and the game works fine. it's only when i've use the new time cycles. tried on two occasions... love the mod! just wish this wouldn't happen

I resolved the cloudy weather / black screen bugs.

In the "cloudy.xml" file there was a simple line missing at the top inbetween line 1 and 2.

what it looks like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<cycle name="CLOUDS" regions="2">

what it should look like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<timecycle_keyframe_data version="1.000000">
<cycle name="CLOUDS" regions="2">

You can check it yourself by comparing "clouds.xml" with all the other timecyc files. All of them have this line present.

simply copy the missing line in.

cheers

I just installed visualv and I think that it cancels darker nights. Am i wrong?

Gelse16

i'm not sure about that. but theres's no sense to use my modded timecycles AND graphic mods since you can do most of yourself with all these graphic mods. every plugin script and asi file is consuming resources and results in less fps. i was searching for some files which are changing the ingame brightness without any script or v-machine to load but i couldn't find some. so i did it myself. and that should be your intention to use my files. with graphic mods you could easily to this yourself. i don't know how much my timecycles affects beside some graphic mods, i've never tried it.
