which ever slot you put this in bud make sure you don't have an old ytd or ytf (which ever the texture files are) or whatever files you had  in that slot before this one. Same goes for old .hi files

kinda jelly of the water but pissed about the lake effect snow we get because of the lakes in the state above us and maybe yours affects it for us also.... Loved snow as a kid but hate it as an adult.  Shoot we have a lot of corn also and cant forget about beans... Knee high by the fourth of july

Heck yeah haha, and it's not so bad snow wise for the southern portion of my state 😛

I'd just like to point out that isn't really the proper way to respond to a legitimate issue.  Having dealt with tons of people on this site, I can tell you that most folks will be so confused as to why this file is lacking a .ytd.  If you look at all other vehicle files, they at least contain three filed .yft, .ytd and_hi.yft.  +hi.ytd is not in a lot of files, and most people are not going to think 'I can rename this to .ytd and it'll work!'  It'd be much better for this file in the long run if you fix it yourself so people downloading don't end up confused and either ignore the file, or ask the same question.

My bad on the poorly handled response. In addition, my files didn't require the "missing" ytd. My game works fine with just the 3 files that were included in the download. If you can, please download it and see if it works for you. It could simply be files getting overwritten. Not sure. I threw mine into latest patchday, as indicated in the 'Install Instructions' and have had no issue. I don't recall saying 'Please try'; however, I recall saying "it's missing something that isn't necessary." I even messaged the person having issues when he sent that.

It sounds like you packed everything into the +hi.ytd and are relying on that one only, which is new to me.  I'll give it a try and see how it goes for me.

I see the comment now. It's simply the wrong patchday or files overriding pre-existing files. I haven't had issues with the files provided, but if you'd like test the provided files out and if an issue occurs, I'll be glad to fix it.

Yeah, most of my textures went into the hi.ytd, but I never had issues with materials colliding in-game. The only time I had that happen was when I exported with all LOD's checked. But then I found out that exporting the yft in 'Highest LOD Only' fixed the issue. If it persists please let me know and I'll update the individual on a solution.

I think you might be mixing up the .ytds.  The .ytd is one of the three require files for vehicles.  It houses all textures for the car.

The +hi.ytd is more for the higher quality textures.  For example, some texture packs have 2k textures for .ytd, and 4k for+hi.ytd.

The +hi.ytd is not required for the car to function properly.  However, some authors do make them required by housing duplicate textures of ones that are already in the .ytd

In your file's case, if I throw the three vehicle files into my game as a standalone and load in, I get this:

20180801022703_1.thumb.jpg.384d654b610723d02fee57e23a54ea8a.jpg

Now, the the reason it's working for you is most that you have another file with a .ytd of the same name, and that is what it's using.  When people take your files and throw it into their game, assuming they are replacing files already there, they are replacing the .yft and_hi.yft, which are the car files.  However, because there is no .ytd, nothing gets replaced. Meaning, say their previous POLICE slot was a Tahoe.  Now the car will be reading the .ytd from a Tahoe and it will not work properly.

When I rename the +hi.ytd in your file to just .ytd, the vehicle spawns in and works perfectly.

thanks for the rapid answer on my question that solving my mystery ... but still in my opinion it must be annoying for the cop-driver having that in the front ... I also remember that some units whether military or police use to have beacon placed on the same spot as is this sing ...

As another Michigander, I can say this model is well done.  The gumball (which I hope MSP always keeps on top of their marked vehicles) is actually a fairly decent size.  I wouldn't mind seeing an explorer made somewhere down the road.  I've seen a ton of those up here in MSP District 7.

[EDIT] Forgot to mention the Gumball LED also flashes pretty close to how it does IRL.  I saw a comment in a review that they wished it rotated.  They in fact, used to rotate with the older lights, but went with the flash when they converted the lights to LEDs, for cost-effectiveness.

Glad you are enjoying the model! I've been getting requests about doing an explorer but I'll have to see where I am at on the dev list. I am close to pushing out a pack so that might free up some space after a few other projects.

What area of District 7 are you in? I'm right up District 8 near the Mackinac Bridge!

Sorry for the delayed response, been dealing with issues on my machine.  I'm in between the Gaylord and Alpena posts.  My county used to have a post in Lewiston, but that was closed a few years ago.  😕

Cool. I suppose you can do yourself a favor and make your own version if you are unsatisfied.

How do you get the gumball to work in zmodeler. I'm trying to make a 2020 Michigan State Police Explorer, but all the leds flash in game except for the Gumball. Can you give me some advice on how to fix it.

Nevermind, I fixed it, it turns out I forgot to swap the material of the ELS before the cover, because the cover blocked the ELS from showing. I might release after I do some testing. 2020 Michigan State Police Explorer is coming soon.
