  1. The thing I've found with trunk searches is they cannot be made during a car stop (unless you ask them to step out of the vehicle) and although the notice shows up, they won't be performed unless you are in a particular spot close to the trunk of the car. Correct me if I'm wrong. I actually had a pretty smooth play session just now, no errors or crashes at all for the entire ~40 minutes of game. Does anyone know if pursuit world events are back in? Ones that you press E to join? I've actually had my first 'disregard, code 4's after installing the rc2-r2 Edit: I did have one glitch/bug now that I remember it. I was on a domestic disturbance callout and it looks like it spawned inside the hardware store where roman goes to play poker. I had no way of getting into the building since none of the doors worked. My only thought was perhaps this building opens up later in the game? Does anyone know?
  2. Seems to happen when you choose to install the Taser.
  3. <p>Having trouble if I choose to install the taser,
  4. An Error Occurred Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. [#10870] We could not find the file specified
  5. If people decide to give you rep (by upvoting your post) your reputation (and e-pen0r) will increase. This then means that when you upvote or downvote someone's post, it has a bigger effect on their reputation.
  6. Hnggggggggggggg I'm gonna give so many parking tickets
  7. Yeah I can see from just looking at the pictures that it has an additional texture that goes over the vehicle. To remove it you'll need to use sparkIV to open your vehicles.img, then open/edit the texture file (.wft), find the texture layer that it would be (most likely one that is very large and gray perhaps with some labels on it) and then import a black, transparent .png image to replace it. I have made a replacement texture for you: http://img814.imageshack.us/img814/1790/blanktexture.png Just save this and use it to replace the gray texture in the .wft file using sparkIV
  8. Maybe it was given a grey texture that goes over the base paint. Dunno. Are you using this one? http://gtapolicemods.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=971 It has a police_sign texture in the wft file that'd you'd need to replace with a blank one if you want it to spawn unmarked. (I'm guessing)
  9. They might spawn as white but that's because the vehicles colours are generally determined by a separate file (unless there is a texture that goes over the car's basic colour). To explain more clearly; If you're replacing the FIB car, then it will spawn as black since the default FIB buffalo also spawns as black. However if you use it to replace the polpatriot, the car will spawn as white as that's what the base colour for the default polpatriot is. To correct this and have your car spawn as a different colour than what the default is you need to edit the carcols.dat in gtaivcommondata Simply find the car you wish to edit the colours for, eg. fib 0,0,8 (the default line for the FIB buffalo in black) and then either change the colour numbers to those from another vehicle or add extras For example if I changed it to fib 0,0,8, 34,1,45, 113,74,113, It would spawn as black (0,0,8), dark red (34,1,45) and white (113,74,113). Editing the carcols.dat is pretty simple but shouldn't be attempted without first backing up the original file and knowing for sure that's what you need to do. This also means you can do what I have done for my unmarked cars and have them spawn in a range of colours, other than just black or white. No one suspects the bright blue crown victoria! Alternatively, you can apparently use SNT to change the colours of vehicles ingame.
  10. Unmarked Tahoe (NON ELS) http://www.gtainside...=25572&orderBy= 2003 Suburban (NON LS) http://www.gtainside...=32045&orderBy= Best I could find.
  11. Sam do you reckon you could detach other objects like the bullet proof vests on the TBOGT FIB models? Might be something else that could prove useful.
  12. You do not have to keep posting heaps of threads about these problems, unless you are really keen to get banned. Did you try what I said in the other thread? By disabling event logging?

    Random

This is a good idea to edit the security guard textures, *steal*
  14. If you check out one of the forum topics I've linked to in my post above, someone suggests using msconfig to disable event log to fix the problem and it seems to be successful.
  15. Hm I don't want to say 'go and buy a new psu' without ruling everything else out because it doesn't sound like it'd be a power supply problem without your rig actually struggling more. Can you play other system--demanding video games? How about your graphics drivers? Are they up to date? Maybe redownload them from the Nvidia website. What's your CPU usage like as per task manager? Have you got other things open in the background while playing? My only other idea is a bad install. Is it a retail copy of the game? http://www.overclock...aking-gta-4-lag http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=392315 http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=454270 Try googling your problem, it might not be uncommon.
  16. How on earth is that a big enough PSU? God damn. Does it only happen with the mod or when you're running vanilla GTA? Is your keyboard wired or wireless? What if you lower the graphics settings of the game?
  17. Are you sure it doesn't work? If you aren't using the normal patrolman character model then there won't be voice clips for making the requests. And they don't appear instantly, they take time. The best way to test is attempt to call in a chopper (maybe press it a few times) and if no choppers come in the next couple of minutes then you've definitely got a problem.
  18. Is it possible to have two pursuits going on at the same time? Say if we had street racer callouts where, once on the scene, two sports cars would spawn driving together at high speed and then naturally they'd probably just drive apart from each other (to evade the police). Once you pull one over you could just call a transport and then go back after the other one. I understand there is a problem with arresting more than one person at the same time (at least in my experience I have to wait until the first person has been taken away before I can call for another transport unit to pick up the second one) but that shouldn't be an issue as there'd be significant time after the first arrest before you joined the pursuit and arrested the second racer. Possibly already suggested, didn't sound too profound. Also it'd be cool to have hostage situations at the airport where a group of gunmen would spawn near an aeroplane with a group of peds and FIB or noose would be on scene. But I understand this isn't really the direction you want to go with the mod, even though people can pick FIB/NOOSE players.
  19. It looks like they are just skins so refer to this paragraph: Some people might offer custom textures for cars which will just be .png image files that replace the textures that the car originally came with. To add these textures use Spark IV to open vehicles.img as before, then find the vehicle file you are editing and use SparkIV to open/edit the texture file. Then all you need to do is import the custom image that you have downloaded into the right layer of the texture file (they are normally called police_sign_1/2/3/4 for police cars with multiple skins). But first you need the car models that they are for. If they aren't listed in the documentation for that file you will have to find them. Here's a good crown vic: and here's a good Dodge charger: These cars are low-poly and non-ELS so they are the best to you. I don't know if the custom skins you downloaded will exactly line up with these cars but for starters install these cars, then you can attempt to overwrite the skins that come with them with the textures from the pack you downloaded.
  20. To add cars to the game you'll need to download files that come with a .wft and .wtd file. Think of one of these as the 3D model and the other as the texture for the vehicle. You then have to use spark IV, navigate to gtaivpcmodelscdimagesvehicles.img and open it. This will open the vehicles.img file which is an archive of all the car files that are currently in the game (notice they are wft and wtd file formats). Then you click the Import button, find the car files (wft and wtd files) that you downloaded and import them, then save the archive. They will replace the car files that they are named after. So if you important files that are named police.wft and police.wtd they will overwrite the default police car in the game. So it's a good idea to back up these original files. You get the car files from: The Downloads section of this website The Downloads section of www.gtapolicemods.com gta4-mods.com gtainside.com Some people might offer custom textures for cars which will just be .png image files that replace the textures that the car originally came with. As a further notice, please read the readme files contained within things you download before you post here for help. We take no responsibility if you break your game in the process. You should backup everything you edit and you can always use steam to repair your game if you break it. If you still aren't sure there are plenty of youtube video tutorials for adding cars to the game. Advanced user mode: If you install cars that have ELS in the title and the sirens don't work ingame you will have to install the ELS Emergency Lighting System script. If you install cars that are very high poly (very detailed, large file size) and you start seeing lots of taxis ingame and nothing else when you are using those cars you will have to install Traffic Control system or one of the other traffic mods to fix that.
  21. You could make the game harder for yourself by enabling hardcore mode; In the scripts folder edit the lcpdfr.ini file with a text editor and change hardcore = false to hardcore = true. This doesn't so much make the criminals tougher but the game gives less assistance to you, you don't have blips on the radar telling you where they are escaping to for example. Alternatively, there is a mod/script called criminal acts that makes peds commit random crimes but I can't find it currently.
  22. Less of a question more of a comment; You and your videos (the beta walkthroughs) are the sole reason I was made aware of and subsequently decided to download LCPD:FR. Thank you. Also, if you're studying policing (as a hobby) do you eventually wish to get into a public (or private) policing job?
  23. From what I understand there are two major police mods for GTA IV; LCPD: First Reponse and Team Neo's Police Pursuit Mod (http://www.policemod.com/) It comes down to whichever you prefer. Both have bugs and will crash occasionally. You can probably do more in LCPD:FR but PPM has some interesting callouts (perhaps sacrificing realism for fun?) but also some where you just get destroyed by someone with an rpg. What you'll find with most people on this forum is that they eventually came to prefer lcpdfr. What PPM has going for it (if you like this sort of thing) is an interesting stats/levelling/almost rpg-like system where it records what crimes you commit against the work you do, you get paid a wage accordingly and receive a police officer level. If you wish to modify your game to be police-like more, consider adding custom police cars using SparkIV, realistic weapon stats/sounds, the ELS Emergency Lighting System mod for ELS-enabled custom cars etc. You can find these kinds of custom content in the downloads section here, in the downloads section of gtapolicemods.com or on websites like gta4-mods.com or gtainside.com
  24. I'll grab this one; You don't have to do anything, just run the game as per normal, go into multiplayer and start a free mode match and then press alt-P as per normal to start the mod. I'm not sure how it effects other players in your game but you still get callouts and everything works like normal. Then you just wait patiently until you encounter a bug or a crash. Also you'll want to change your text chat keys to something else because the default is Y and you need that button to accept callouts. e: this is for LCPD:FR multiplayer. I haven't played a proper game with other people but this is all i've had to do to run the mod in multiplayer. ee: I could be totally wrong!
