This is what I'm using right now after a few revisions. hbaosettings.xml -
I have! It's pretty good. Comes with a small performance drop though. Increased HBAO is a bit more taxing on your system.

Horizon-Based Ambient Occlusion settings, found in update.rpf/common/data. There's an XML file there called hbaosettings.xml. It messes with shading, ambient lighting and how exposed a scene is. Example in spoiler below.
