But also they can be used as a deterrent, yes guns were made for killing people, but the right to own a firearm is necessary. We use it in self defense. Imagine if only the government was allowed to use guns? What could be happening to us if that happened? Also, guns are also used for self-defense as well, which can help if you are getting robbed or if someone is about to attack you. And owning a gun doesn't mean just dead people, it COULD lead to reduced crime, but in big cities like Chicago, where I live, people use guns in self defense, but you know, dead people. It just matters how we use them, who gets them. But here, we have 2 examples in one, guns can kill, and guns can save lives.

    Hey guys sorry to interrupt!

I fully understand how bad it is to get your mods stolen, ripped, leaked, whatever it may be, and from the perspective of a modder I understand all the outrage with the ripping that has been going on in both FR and the modding community in general.

However, what actually do you think the FR staff can do about this? Honestly, tell me what you think they can do to stop all ripping in the FR community. There is no answer, and the answer certainly isn't moving all your mods to a different website... That's just... fucking stupid. You still mod for the LSPDFR mod, and every one of you started with FR so let's not forget that, and maybe try to work together with the staff to try and stop it? Idfk that's just what im thinking as a concerned third party!

    As I said previous post.

Hi I'm Jedahdiah, and I'm a dramatic developer and I'd like to join this dramatic developer anonymous group.

Interesting though that the staff on the site want to keep closing topics that are saying the site doesn't support modders.

First, staff called us stupid and dramatic, and now they think censoring us by closing topics is a good idiots to silence us?

An excellent tactic. If only the French thought of that in the war.

The problem is, while a person who is forum banned can certainly ban evade, if they continue their ban-able behavior, such behavior is done publicly, which can allow the next account to be identified and banned as well. Therefore they can realistically perform a rolling ban of that person as long as they continue their ban-able behavior, without even having to identify that the accounts actually belong to a singular person.

For a ripper to ban evade, all they need to do is create a second account, and not disclose the new account that was created. The actual ban-able behavior is neither done publicly, or in view of the websites logs, and therefore the person ban evading, cannot be identified after the initial ban evasion unless they themselves do something to make it obvious.

Im not against banning someone who is ripping content, but reality is such a ban is merely security theatre, where-as forum bans can realistically encourage someone to change their behavior to stay, or get bored and leave. The staff are rightfully so pointing out that nothing they do will realistically prevent someone from taking content that is made public, and changing,  or utilizing it in unintended ways once the content is on that person's hard-drive.

Sadly, changing websites for content security purposes won't actually result in that content being secure, as long as the content is still public.

I didn't read all this topic, because I don't like flushing my time down the toilet. But I just have to comment on the expectations of users that this site should pursue your content on other sites, on other servers, in other jurisdictions.

Here is a bullet point of GitHub's DMCA procedure:

If your content is stolen, you, your lawyer or some other designated person is responsible for making a DMCA claim against the site or hosting provider hosting it. Not me, not Sam Houser, not your great aunt's dog. YOU!

Just as I have filed DMCA requests for my mods. I didn't demand someone else who's hosting my mods do it for me.

Just as has probably been done when LCPDFR or LSPDFR are hosted elsewhere without permission or decompiled.

It's unlikely that most vehicle mods even are valid copyright claims anyway. Surely EA, Ubi or whoever should be making that claim against a vehicle taken from their game. Or Ford, Dodge or whatever company owns them trademarks. Or the emergency department or company who's logos are being used.

And if locking mods is no longer effective, maybe complain to Oleg that your overpriced ZMod subscription doesn't feel worth it any more. But I'm sure he'll tell you that it is impossible for any file to be protected against reverse engineering, decryption, ripping, decompiling, etc. without preventing users from obtaining that file in the first place.

The cool real looking models you see in GTA5 have to come from somewhere. Either you have people who rip work from another game or your paying someone to take something like a CAD drawing and creating the 3d Model for you to use. This first part can run anywhere from $100-500 on average. Once you have said model it generally needs to be converted to actually work in GTA 5. It also generally needs to be poly crunched so the game engine doesnt die when they spawn in. Then you need to template/put on lights/touch up the models. After all this work is done to the tune of sometimes hundreds of man hours worth of work you get something that looks like this. So yes even though the end product was released in a locked state for everyone to enjoy someone actively stealing it so they can do whatever they want with it is not ideal as its your blood/sweat/tears.

... Show me? I havent been on this website in months idk who you think I am or something maybe read my name again what??? I'm so mindblown by your lack of research and bullshit.

    1. I take a few packs down because they lack the current quality of my models.
    2. I continue modding and putting up new packs.
    3. Months or weeks later I quit, I find there are issues in the control of the FR staff, I don't like that, and I decide to step away until they improve it.
    4. They improve it. I come back. Those packs stay down.

    What's the issue?

An excellent point. So I suppose as devs, we shouldn't release guys. Just keep everything private and behind a paywall. No more public releases. Glad we've all agreed.

Look, the staff here is biased and we all know it. Look at the rules broken daily, showcases of stuff that will never be released but because you have a big name means you are a-o-k to do so right? We all know you only care about the revenue generated off the members and ads within the site. What you don't realize is the developers here are fed up with nothing being done to protect their work.  They try and get support and the developers get warned. Why do you think so many big names have left? Hmm, maybe because the staff is lazy and doesn't wanna do anything to actually protect people that want to give to the public. Medic is your biggest developer for fire departments fleets, guess what? He's yanked all his mods because people do nothing to protect them. I don't blame any of the developers who left this community, I'm glad people are realizing it. Calling this a "modders strike" and "we are just drama", How would you like it if Sam spent all the time on LSPDFR 0.4 then Timmy Bob came in, ripped it, and released it publicly for everyone to use? Oh yeah, I forgot, he'd just ignore it because that's what we are suppose to do and it shows.  You CAN deal with the issues if you actually take the time to care for you members YOU choose not to do it because all you want is the money.  I hope this gets on videos and shared around. People need to see the reason their favorite developers are leaving the community and stop removing and deleting topics and posts. They want a place that the staff actually looks out for it's members and enforces their own rule, not be biased and let certain people get away with posting whatever they want on the site.

Good-night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. Vaccinate your kids too.
