This is becoming very similar to the Rauol Moat case we had a few years ago.. He shot his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, he then shot an innocent PC as he watched traffic on a busy roundabout; At 12:45 a.m. on 4 July, Police Constable David Rathband was shot while sitting in his patrol car on the roundabout of the A1 and A69 roads near East Denton.[1] Rathband was taken to Newcastle General Hospital in a critical condition with injuries to his head and upper body.[1][11] The Guardian reported that Moat had called police 12 minutes before shooting PC Rathband to taunt them and tell them what he was about to do. He did so again some 50 minutes after the shooting, during which he showed little remorse and complained the police are "not taking me seriously enough".[11][15]

Being from the UK, I've only ever seen the LAPD through fictional shows such as SouthLAnd but as I think Ben McKenzie stated in one interview, they strive for realism, meaning that every episode aims to be dead on with protocol and possible behaviour Of course, they'll get it wrong but going from what I've seen, it doesn't seem unusual for officers in the LAPD to lash out every now and then at suspects. For instance, I'm pretty sure most of you would arrive to a domestic call on your own and upon finding the male strangling the life out of the woman, would throw him off and land a few punches on him. But this is based on how you were raised and what your moral values are. Policing in LA cannot be easy, what with gangbangers and many unstable people (the hollywood washup's / wannabes) Again, I'm not approving of police brutality, but its very easy to see how officers can snap for a few seconds. I could be completely wrong however my opinion is based on the knowledge I've gained over the years via media outlets and personal experiences.
