  1. I'm genuinely curious, where does your desire to upfit your car like that come from? Is it just liking the lights or what? A surplus Crown Vic wouldn't get a second look around these parts; a surplus Crown Vic kitted out as you described in your OP, as Dankangel not so subtlety said, does come across as rather whackerish. I'm just not really getting it I guess.
  2. Are they gonna be maintenance pigs like the current gen Chargers? That's the important bit.
  3. Current gen MSP Charger shows up in this pursuit. Also, CVPI action. http://youtu.be/mdPe9EJQujE
  4. Honestly, your OP doesn't give much info. My best guess would be the alternator or some assorted belt noise.
  5. CVPI's are fading quick around here. A few departments are holding on to them, but Charger's and the new Ford Police Utility seem to be making the biggest impact around here.
  6. No, the TSA is hardly seen as better than mall cops(with the training to go with it) that armed baggage checkers is a bad idea. At that, pretty much any large® airport will have it's own police protection, usually in house. Besides, their already is an armed element to the TSA, look up VIPR teams and Federal Air Marshals.
  7. Tennessee Vs Garner: Held: The Tennessee statute is unconstitutional insofar as it authorizes the use of deadly force against, as in this case, an apparently unarmed, nondangerous fleeing suspect; such force may not be used unless necessary to prevent the escape and the officer has probable cause to believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death or serious physical injury to the officer or others. Pp. 497 U. S. 7-22. "f persons that are pursued by these officers for felony or the just suspicion thereof . . . shall not yield themselves to these officers, but shall either resist or fly before they are apprehended or being apprehended shall rescue themselves and resist or fly, so that they cannot be otherwise apprehended, and are upon necessity slain therein, because they cannot be otherwise taken, it is no felony."
  8. First of all, a picture of a guy on a roof doesn't mean anything. It's a city, during a state holiday, during one of the largest events in the city of the year. There will be people about. Also, regarding the Facebook post: You folks realize that if you have admin privileges to the page, you can change the title, even after the page was created, right? I don't even use Facebook and I know that. Right now the media is jumping on every rumor and tiny little thing in an effort to be "First"! Accuracy and facts be dammed.
  9. Attack at a mass public event like this strikes of jihadis. From images posted around the net and info from other forums I post on I except that the casualty rate will climb. Thoughts out to the victims, victim's families and the rest that were there today.
  10. Vollys? If so, a 10 minute response time isn't terrible.
  11. Heh. This reminds of the guys who get Marine Corps tats before they ship off to boot camp.
  12. Meh, that's pretty far out there for GR. That being said, they have been seeing an uptick in violent crime since the new year. I'm an hour and a half away out in the country, and I prefer it that way.
  13. That depends on your State labor laws and the policy of the employer. As above, ask.
  14. Sucker will rot in the winter. With the way they salt the roads here in the upper Midwest it's simply a fact of life. And the second any major cancer spots appear on that car your gonna lose pretty much all its value. Daily drivers are almost impossible to keep nice as is, on top of that the car is nearly 50 years old, and driving in the winter ain't gonna make your job any easier in either regard. If you have your mind set on it great, but you better set your expectations accordingly. This is coming from a guy who has never owned a car made after 1991.
  15. Tradition is a wonderful thing. Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  16. Actually, as the old Unity bulbs break they are being replaced with Whelen LED arrays. The Charger has the Whelen LED and the CVPI has the old Unity system. The new Whelen system has one heck of an output. Also, tradition. See the 4:00 mark in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdPe9EJQujE
  17. Dodge Charger Michigan State Police car by Corvair Owner, on Flickr Why? Because, that's why.
  18. Unmarked cars are common for traffic enforcement. Not here in MI though, against state law to use an unmarked car for traffic duties I believe.
  19. Can't say I have a favorite. The ones around me all seem to do a good job, and to me that's what counts.
  20. Yeah, I was gonna post that one. The ensuing scanner feed during the chase and hostage situation was just as interesting.
  21. Looks a like a case where two assholes collide. Meh. Regarding the response time, a non-violent eviction complaint wont rate very high in the priority list of current dispatch tickets, especially in a large city.
  22. Looks like they Waco'd him. If Dorner became a crispy critter I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.
  23. I can post Dorner's Manifesto, it shows what an absolute nutter that guy is. It is BIG however.
