JordanDevlin reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4 - Announcement + First Preview
    Been a while, huh?
You know, when we first started making LSPDFR, the whole process was pretty much one big roller-coaster that didn't have any brakes:  there were the obvious highs when we'd finally add in something cool, but the low points were pretty hard as well - the amount of work that went into simply researching how things worked really took its toll as well.  And, of course, while this was all going on there just simply wasn't any stopping, we were a couple of (somewhat) real people who essentially lived in Los Santos for just about all of 2015, spending month after month pushing forward and trying to come up with things that everyone here would like to see.
So, of course, the grind and the pace of everything simply just wasn't sustainable and after 0.3, it's no secret that while the numbers and everything for our site are still on the up, month after month, things did slow down quite substantially for the actual mod itself.  But, we can tell you, this wasn't all bad news - it's afforded us the opportunity to take a step back and really look at the mod and figure out where we want to go next with it.  While our approach before was all about cramming as much new stuff as we could into a couple of months of development, we've now been able to look back at many of the original ideas and concepts that we had for LSPDFR and build on them.  Of course, with that being said, there's still a lot of new stuff crammed into 0.4!

With 0.4, we've taken the time to fix a couple of those "how the hell didn't they add this yet" moments :)
Aside from the cool little additions like this, though, the major theme of 0.4 is Character.  Ever since seeing the character system for GTA Online, it was always our goal to implement something similar in LSPDFR.  There's just something that much more personal and immersive about playing a game with your own character, and the possibilities that it offers are staggering too.  And yes, while mods like EUP are fantastic (and awesomely compatible with 0.4!), they still feel somewhat separate or distant.  With 0.4, this separation is gone.

No, these shots aren't taken from GTA Online.  This is our own, fully-featured, LSPDFR Character Creator.
Of course, we'll talk more about the new Character features in LSPDFR 0.4 later.  The Character Creator menu shown above is obviously only one part of what's new in this regard, although hopefully it emphasizes the effort that we've gone to.  Thanks to some of the new additions like this, much of 0.4 actually looks and feels like an entirely new mod altogether.

Officer Ronson and his clones obviously couldn't make it to the flashlight party.
Stay tuned!  We'll be sharing more about 0.4 soon.

JordanDevlin reacted to PNWParksFan in Hurricane Harvey support drive and matching donations
As you have all likely heard by now, Hurricane Harvey is hitting Texas and the gulf coast region very hard right now. Millions of people are being displaced by extreme flooding and other hurricane damage, with feet of rain falling over a short period of time. Hundreds of people have already been rescued by brave emergency responders and community members, but many thousands more still need help. Efforts are currently focused on the rescue of people in immediate danger, and there isn't much we can do from afar to help that effort but send our best wishes to all involved. However, once taken out of harms way, these people still need shelter, food and water, medical assistance, and more. This is where you can help, by donating to the relief organizations who are helping these displaced people, both in these crucial moments as the disaster unfolds, and in the years to come as they rebuild.
We all enjoy playing video games that sometimes simulate dire real-life circumstances. This is particularly relevant to me as the creator of some mods that are heavily focused on EMS and Search and Rescue. I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the grave reality that these responders are facing right now and in the days to come. And I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage you do make a donation to support the relief efforts.
I am offering the following incentives to donate to the American Red Cross to specifically support relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey. If you would like to suggest additional relief groups that are deserving of our donations, please suggest them below.
Matching donations: See instructions below to confirm your donation. Any donation over $10 (Red Cross online donation minimum) will be included.  @PNWParksFan will match the first $100 of confirmed donations as part of this campaign.  @acepilot2k7 has committed to match another $50 in confirmed donations  @FirstThirtyMinutes has committed to match another $100 in confirmed donations @AlphaWhiskeySix has contributed an additional $100 in matching donations Coastal Callouts beta access: Anybody who donates at least $30 confirmed will be granted beta access to Coastal Callouts, as if they had donated to me directly  Discord recognition Any member of PNWParksFan, Acepilot2k7, or FirstThirtyMinute's Discord servers who donates $10 or more will get a special user role to recognize their contributions to this effort
    Donation instructions:
Go to redcross.org/donate Enter the amount you want to donate Select "Hurricane Harvey" under the "I want to support" dropdown  Check "Dedicate this donation" and enter "LSPDFR community" or "Coastal Callouts community" Complete the donation Forward the email receipt for your donation to gtaparks+harvey <AT> gmail.com. If you'd like any of the recognition/perks please provide your Discord username in the email so I know who you are. That's optional of course but I won't be able to give you any perks related to your identity in the community if I don't know who you are. If you do not want to be publicly recognized (e.g. in discord servers, youtube shoutouts, etc.) please let me know in the email as well.

I will track the donation receipts I receive as "confirmed donations", and will update with the totals here daily. Anybody who has committed to matching donations will also post a screenshot after they submit the donation.
If anybody has any other suggestions on how we as a community can support the relief efforts for Hurricane Harvey, please let me know below or in a PM.

The mod will be available for free to everyone when it's complete. It's currently still under development. Many other mod authors offer early access to donors. I'm sorry if that offends you, and if you don't wish to use the mod when it's released that's really just fine by me.

I hate boats. I hate them so much. Rockstar makes boats modding unfriendly, but why?! So many unknown errors and stuff, boy... In the time it takes to do one boat I could make 10 helicopter mods :D

The latest updates on Coastal Callouts progress:
I completely redid most of the boat pursuit AI. It's much more stable now! You can now use a megaphone to order a fleeing boat to stop. There's a random chance they'll comply.  When suspects give up, they'll stay seated in their boat with their hands up until you approach them. AI boat police are now smarter about following suspects.  Pursuit system now tracks bullets fired into the engines, and disables the vessel if enough shots have been fired.  If a ped falls in the water, nearby boat police will chase, and if they get close enough take the suspect into custody.

New, more realistic rescue basket prop.

We finally have driveable cargo ships in the game! They're available now on gta5-mods.com by elcreador, and I'm currently doing some testing to see how I can use them for various callouts. Here's a little preview vid of using one of the cargo ships for a medevac mission:

Some of the parts are missing because I will make  an attempt to incorporate some kind of customization with alternate parts, 2 side mirrors, 2 running boards, 2 grille style.

As soon as this vehicle is completed,  I am looking for some someone who can convert it into law enforcement vehicles (Federal agencies, fire dept, police etc)

Meanwhile, now that I'm back, it's immediately back to work on the actual development! So far I've just been re-orienting myself and trying out some ideas I mulled over during my vacation. Have a look:

Introducing the 47-foot Motor Life Boat! @JordanDevlin purchased this model for us, and his latest episode shows it in action:
Big thanks to @SkylineGTRFreak for doing a great conversion of this model. It should be available to Coastal Callouts beta testers soon, although I have some more work left to do on the layouts and textures when I return from my trip before it's 100% complete.

Hey guys, this is where ill be posting the vast majority of my new works in progress, answering questions and comments you guys have and just having sort of a general discussion with you guys about what you guys can look for from me!
    I only have three things to ask of you guys;
    1. Please please please do not ask for a release date for anything posted in this thread!
    2. Please do not ask to be a tester, i'm still very very wary about allowing for people to have stuff early because leakers.
    3. Please don't ask for the models ahead of time.

Now that that's all done with, lets get on with it!

    Current Works In Progress:
    1. Forza Horizon 3 CVPI
Now with the release of my CHP pack, I've moved my priorities to this bad boy. I'm still waiting for a tool that i can get the engine texture for, so I need to decide if i want to wait to release this with the engine or just go without for now.

A huge amount of progress has been made with the FH3 CVPI, when i say huge, I mean like its almost ready for game.

    2. 2013 Dodge Charger DEV
A little side project that ive been working on for a little bit, kinda been delayed a little bit due to other projects, but this will be done soon!
It will be released unlocked, and will feature all correct LODS, proper scaling to in game vehicles and handling identical to the police2 for ease of use!
Also features some pretty nice textures if i do say so myself.
    Pics or it didn't happen:

The engine im going to throw in there so you dont see just a texture

3.Hometown departments (Windsor/O.P.P) or Fictional Charger pack. :

I don't have really any screenshots for this, but i've been debating on what I should do after the two base models.

A few updates for you all this morning:
Thank you to everybody who has joined the Parks Benefactor program! Everyone who has joined as of the time of this post should have received their beta access info by now.  Thank you to Jordan Devlin for generously purchasing the 47' Motor Life Boat model for us! SkylineGTRFreak is working on converting it to GTA, and it will be added to the Coastal Callouts DLC! The next model we're trying to get is a 45' Response Boat Medium.

This model is a bit more expensive than the previous one, so we're trying to split the cost between a few people. I've already gotten 2 people who are interested in chipping in, so we're about half way there. Please PM me if you'd like to help out - the offer still stands that if you contribute towards buying this model you'll get immediate beta access! I made quite a bit of progress adding new features to the mod yesterday, including Search Backup AI. If you watched Darkmyre's helicopter episode you'll know that it can be very challenging to find the rescue victims sometimes. Search Backup will make those calls a little bit easier and more interesting. The Search Backup menu will let you call in planes, helis, and boats to search the area you specify. The position of any subjects they locate will be reported to you over the radio and marked on the map. There are realistic limits on how many of each type of backup you can request, and you can dynamically change the search area and radius.

That's all for this update! Don't forget to like the beta announcement post to be entered for a chance to win beta access, and stay tuned for more updates soon.

Finally got RPH working on my new PC! Still waiting for the GPU to arrive, but that's enough to at least let me work on the mod.
Today in "this callout idea seems absurd but is actually realistic and surprisingly challenging," we have "aids to navigation assistance".

All silliness aside (although I do expect this to become a callout, I've just written a couple lines of code to test that this is possible), I'm continuing to work on and improve features. My current focus includes:
Polishing the search backup. This is working much better now, but I still have some work to do with making the search AI's detection chances realistically depend on weather, time of day, and distance from the search targets.  Boat dropoff. Much like the helicopter dropoff which I previewed in a video previously, I will be adding locations you can drop off patients from your boat.  Improvements to various AI functionality, including boat pursuit AI and copilot AI. Beta testers have found some specific issues with these which I plan to address, and I plan to give all the AI functionality a significant overhaul at some point to improve on some issues and add new features.  A drug callout is now underway! Drug smuggling callouts were much-requested, so I'm working on that now.

The 47' Motor Life Boat model is coming along nicely, although we haven't started on the interior yet which will definitely take some work to make good. Got working radar, working spotlights, working emergency light, and 4 working seats (which I will be adding more). Big thanks to SkylineGTRFreak for doing most of the work in converting that model.

Just a friendly reminder that the beta is currently available to anybody who joins my Parks Benefactor program! Thanks for following along, and as always, feel free to leave any comments, questions, or suggestions.

    From the shed that has been raided multiple times by SWAT units and where the Rednecks crawled out of, the following is coming to your patrols soon;
Automatic Roadblocks is a plugin that creates dynamic roadblocks while you're in a pursuit, these can be toggled on/off as needed.
Automatic Roadblocks will automatically guess where the best position for a roadblock is, no messing around with pausing your pursuit to guess where to place a roadblock next.
Roadblocks will automatically be elevated based on how aggressive the pursuit is, and how many roadblocks have been dodged during the pursuit.
    You can check out the development album right here;

Introducing the Early Access Loyalty Rewards Programme
As a fresh, new sign of showing my deep appreciation to people who notably support me because they enjoy my work, I'm introducing a new 'Loyalty Rewards Programme'!
I feel that people who have shown their trust in me by notably supporting me deserve just that little bit of extra effort from me too.
The Loyalty Rewards Programme is designed to give something back to people who support me and my work. There are currently over 60 people participating and this number is ever-growing.
Feel free to join my Discord server for more information or just to have a chat: https://goo.gl/IOjQST
Q: What exactly is the Loyalty Rewards Programme?
The Loyalty Rewards Programme allows participants to get early access to new updates of my modifications or new modifications I create, helping to add finishing touches to them.
This essentially allows participants to play a crucial role in the final development stages of my modifications and get an exclusive sneak peek of what's to come.
By doing this, participants can help solve last-minute bugs or small problems, give me suggestions of things to add and, of course, enjoy some of my new content a bit earlier.
Joining the Loyalty Rewards Programme means you get access to the participants' hub on Discord. Together, we are a community of people that get unlimited access to my modifications' early versions and have a great time discussing future ideas.
Q: How do I qualify to become a participant in the Loyalty Rewards Programme?
-Generous donators who donate more than €8 per month to support my work are granted full access to the Loyalty Rewards Programme.
-Generous donators who have donated more than €20 to support my work are granted full access to the Loyalty Rewards Programme.
-People who have otherwise been notably supportive towards me can be granted access to the Loyalty Rewards Programme at my discretion.
-It is advised to have some very basic knowledge of how to use LSPDFR along with other modifications.
Participating in the programme is not mandatory, of course. It is entirely up to you whether you would like to participate once you qualify.
Q: How can I donate to you?
Thanks for your generosity! You can donate to me by doing as follows:
-Go to the following page: https://goo.gl/AqDQPn
-Enter your amount and optionally check the 'Make this monthly (recurring)' checkbox.
-Optionally enter a nice message or your LSPDFR username on the next page.
    -Complete the donation via PayPal.
-Feel free to PM me with your PayPal email address so I can verify your donation more quickly.
Q: Aren't you forcing people to participate in the programme by holding content away from the general public?
Please rest assured that non-participants of the programme will still get access to any new updates or modifications as normal after I deem them ready for full release.
This programme is exclusively designed to show my appreciation to my supporters, not to create another 'paid content system' (which I despise of in general).
Q: What can I expect from the early versions as a participant?
Please be aware that, despite my own thorough testing beforehand, the early versions of new updates or new modifications may contain various small problems or bugs.
The early versions should always be relatively close to a full release, however! I'm giving participants access to enjoy themselves and suggest new features, not to do my testing work for me ;)
Q: Anything else that I should be aware of?
If you fulfil the participants' requirements above and would like to become a participant, please feel free to send me an LSPDFR PM or message me via our usual messaging service.
If you donated to me and didn't state your LSPDFR username in the donation, please include your donation email address in your message so I can verify your donation.
Participants are still bound to the usual licence agreement for the specific early version they are using.
Hope to be able to welcome you soon!
