    Been a while, huh?

You know, when we first started making LSPDFR, the whole process was pretty much one big roller-coaster that didn't have any brakes:  there were the obvious highs when we'd finally add in something cool, but the low points were pretty hard as well - the amount of work that went into simply researching how things worked really took its toll as well.  And, of course, while this was all going on there just simply wasn't any stopping, we were a couple of (somewhat) real people who essentially lived in Los Santos for just about all of 2015, spending month after month pushing forward and trying to come up with things that everyone here would like to see.

So, of course, the grind and the pace of everything simply just wasn't sustainable and after 0.3, it's no secret that while the numbers and everything for our site are still on the up, month after month, things did slow down quite substantially for the actual mod itself.  But, we can tell you, this wasn't all bad news - it's afforded us the opportunity to take a step back and really look at the mod and figure out where we want to go next with it.  While our approach before was all about cramming as much new stuff as we could into a couple of months of development, we've now been able to look back at many of the original ideas and concepts that we had for LSPDFR and build on them.  Of course, with that being said, there's still a lot of new stuff crammed into 0.4!

With 0.4, we've taken the time to fix a couple of those "how the hell didn't they add this yet" moments :)

Aside from the cool little additions like this, though, the major theme of 0.4 is Character.  Ever since seeing the character system for GTA Online, it was always our goal to implement something similar in LSPDFR.  There's just something that much more personal and immersive about playing a game with your own character, and the possibilities that it offers are staggering too.  And yes, while mods like EUP are fantastic (and awesomely compatible with 0.4!), they still feel somewhat separate or distant.  With 0.4, this separation is gone.

No, these shots aren't taken from GTA Online.  This is our own, fully-featured, LSPDFR Character Creator.

Of course, we'll talk more about the new Character features in LSPDFR 0.4 later.  The Character Creator menu shown above is obviously only one part of what's new in this regard, although hopefully it emphasizes the effort that we've gone to.  Thanks to some of the new additions like this, much of 0.4 actually looks and feels like an entirely new mod altogether.

Officer Ronson and his clones obviously couldn't make it to the flashlight party.

Stay tuned!  We'll be sharing more about 0.4 soon.

I'm sorry you feel that way about the mod.
I can only explain the issue of the traffic disappearing on a traffic stop as Sam had pointed it out yesterday in another thread, 0.3 attempts to manage traffic during two scenarios.
Pursuits - Traffic is low as naturally people would want to avoid any immediate area involving a police pursuit
Traffic Stops - 0.3 attempts to manage traffic so that it doesn't slam into you or ruin your stop, apparently it does this too well as pointed out by Sam.
As for the AI shooting suspects, I personally haven't had this happen yet, not on this version at least. Could it possibly be an external script affecting the behaviour of the AI?
As for the patroling units joining, there is a 3rd party mod that disables this so the only cars involved in a chase are the ones you call - this is temporary until LMS or someone adds a toggle to the .ini file in the future

EDIT: Another mod has just this minute been released that forces AI Cops to stay behind you and not ram you out of the way

However, LSPDFR is one of the most outright fantastic mods out there for V, the only other I can think of from the top of my head that matches this level of complexity and detail is the Watchdogs mod that brings over the UI, Hacking Features and Sounds from watchdogs

DrDraescher reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.3 Announcement + First Preview
After a short break from the non-stop development of the first couple of versions of LSPDFR, we're really excited to officially announce the next installment in the series - LSPDFR 0.3.  As you might have come to expect, LSPDFR 0.3 takes strongly after its predecessors, introducing a big bunch of groundbreaking new features and gameplay.
With actually only a few weeks of development, it is amazing how far this next version of LSPDFR has come, and the extent of fresh, new content and possibilities that it offers.

You asked, we listened.  Arresting suspects has been drastically improved, especially with the brand new addition of interactive cuffing - no guns required!
With 0.3, we've taken the time to rebuild some of the core mechanics of the modification, particularly as it comes to arresting suspects.  With a brand new interactive system, you can now easily and seamlessly place stopped suspects in handcuffs.  The animations for this are incredibly fluid, as is the way in which the process works, with interactivity being a key component.  In 0.3, when you arrest someone, there's a very tangible feeling of control - a massive improvement from earlier versions where, due to a reliance on normal playback, it could often feel as though you had been taken out of the game as you waited for an animation to finish.

The Vapid Police Interceptor makes its LSPDFR debut in 0.3.  Well, with our entirely new and seriously powerful XML based backup unit customization, so does every other vehicle (and ped) in your game too!
We'll be sharing more about the features and changes in LSPDFR 0.3 over the next week or so, as we take a more in-depth look at what 0.3 brings to the table, including the full Downtown Police Station interior, amazingly improved interaction with suspects, and much more!

In case A doesn't work, or you don't have a controller, clicking the left mouse button will also cycle trough head variations as long as you have the head selected.

We try to cater for more than just one type of person with LSPDFR.  With 0.2b, we added a massive amount of content in the space of a couple of weeks which was aimed primarily at people who like to take a more serious/RP style approach.  Similarly, there's a bunch of stuff for people that play LSPDFR more casually.  You might not realise it, but there are lots who enjoy driving around in police cars and blowing things up under the colour of authority.  One of the cool things about a game like GTA is the freedom that it offers to players, and we include a number of different things in LSPDFR for that reason.

I've seen Jeff play as the Highway Officer with the brown hair and beard and have seen the different textures for the officers in the ytd file, but I was wondering how you actually access them in game. LSPDFR only lets you choose between the standard black and white highway officer and the simple trainer that I have doesn't give me the option to switch to the other options either. Is there something I'm overlooking or doing wrong here?

    To the creators,
First off, let me say you have something incredible in LSPDFR.  I was one of the first players of LCPDFR when it came out and have been a follower ever since.  You guys have accomplished so much in such little time that I can't wait to see what the future brings.
Having said that, I would also like to make some suggestions for future releases that people like me would enjoy and were never implemented in LCPDFR.
I am currently in the police academy here in Florida and have grown up in a police family.  While I know many of us love the adrenaline of the car chases and shootouts, such events in real life are a very small percentage of what a police officer experiences.  In reality, police officers are social workers/secretaries with guns whose jobs are comprised of 99% paperwork and boring calls and 1% action/sheer terror.  I would like to see what I call "real police work" implemented.  such as the following:
    - ROUTINE calls for service
          - Welfare checks
         - NON Violent domestic disturbances
         - Alarm calls
         - Basic thefts (shoplifting, property theft, delayed theft reports for property and auto's)
    - Implement some sort of report writing system (not saying we actually write a report, but perhaps before a prisoner transport is complete you have to hit a hotkey to write a report on the incident)

I believe if you were to mix in some of these more basic calls for service, you would go a long way in appeasing the RP crowd like me. Keep up the great work.

I think if you kill the launcher, your game will inevitably crash down the line. Instead, I'd try the following:
Someone else posted this, but I found it also works for me.
Launch RagePluginHook.exe. Once you're inside the game as a character, hit Esc to pause the game and then press ctrl-esc minimize the game. Click back inside the game and your RPH console should display.
