remembrance of the fallen of the men and women of the united states military and law enforcement #bluelivesmatter#defendtheflag
"The Thin Blue Line is a symbol used by law enforcement, originating in the United Kingdom but now prevalent in the United States and Canada to commemorate fallen law enforcement officers and to symbolize the relationship of law enforcement in the community as the protectors of fellow civilians from criminal elements. It is an analogy to the term Thin Red Line." Hmm... nope, still pretty meaningful.

remembrance of the fallen of the men and women of the united states military and law enforcement #bluelivesmatter#defendtheflag
While I understand your frustration, I think you've completely missed the point of this topic. It went over your head and down the road with little hopes of ever returning. We are honoring law enforcement officers and servicemen and woman that have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and local communities. Those that lost their lives in the line of duty, trying to protect and serve others and preserve our nation. I think anyone would agree that there are backstabbings that occur in law enforcement agencies across the country (and the world I'm sure). There are backstabbings that occur in the United States Armed Forces, and I speak from experience. That's not the point, we aren't trying to say that we're all a big happy family of public servants. We're simply showing honor and respect to those that have lost their lives.

I want to thank you for openly recognizing the sacrifices that our servicemen and women have made for our nation, alongside the sacrifices that our emergency services have made for our local communities. Memorial Day isn't a day about saving money on unneeded purchases, it's a day to remember those that have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. I sincerely wish a peaceful Memorial Day to everyone, especially those that have suffered the loss of a loved one in service to this nation. I can only imagine the emotion running through a parent, losing their child in defense of our country. It really is heart-breaking. Enjoy your weekend, and enjoy your Memorial Day.

Seems like I can't change the key bindings for the controller. Even when I change the value, it's as though I didn't actually change anything. Set the value to 0 and it still activates as usual...

Not you, that other guy. It's fine to believe in whatever you want, that's the core principle of liberty. Being able to believe and say what you want (to an extent of course, with regards to forum rules and law). I don't disagree with the quote, I just disagreed with its use.

Yes, because the Police deserve my respect and appreciation. Islam does not. They're the whole reason that I can live my life safe and sound each day without fear of falling victim to a senseless crime. And if I do fall victim to crime, I'm confident that the situation will be resolved in an efficient and timely manner, and that's how everyone should feel about law enforcement. I won't sit by and allow someone to generalize all law enforcement officers based on the actions of a few. The difference is that the actions of Muslim terrorists are based directly off of their ideology, what they live by on a daily basis. The actions of corrupt police officers are based directly off of their own decision to make a bad choice. I know plenty about Islam, which is why I've grown to dislike it personally. The less I know about Islam, the more I like it. If I don't Bing verses from Islam.... how else would I know anything about Islam? I'm not going to go spend money on the book, lol. Just because I don't love Islam doesn't make me a bigot "racist"...lol. You ask me if I know anything about Islam. I ask you, have you ever been deployed to Afghanistan? Iraq? Have you ever witnessed the horror of this in person? "Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah." Muhammad (Ibn Ishaq 992) "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them." "Allah"(Quran 8:12) It doesn't take a college level research project to find the hate ingrained in the ideology. That's not what I'm saying. Obviously, people are going to reside in areas where the same culture is shared, that's everybody. When these people come into our countries, these refugees, they don't want to assimilate. They want us to accommodate, and that's not how it works. Either you adjust to the nation you're in, or you leave. Yes, I do have an issue with Islam. The more research I conduct on the religion, the more I want to rid it from the planet. If you were knowledgeable about the religion and its true form, you'd feel similarly. It may not be the best option, but it's more effective than doing absolutely nothing. That's not a suggestion exclusive to the Republican Party, friend. I feel as though we've veered off course here. Someone decided to advance their political agenda in the wake of a horrifying attack by a terrorist, and it triggered me, admittedly. I'll go ahead and end the debate here, as to prevent any sort of issue with moderation.

We don't isolate them, they isolate themselves, as I've said below. It's not the person that I have an issue with, it's the ideology. They are isolated because they choose to be isolated. They don't want to assimilate, they want society to accommodate to their ideology, which is incompatible with western civilization. That's not a matter of opinion, that's a nasty fact that people keep denying. We can't bomb extremism, but we can bomb the breeding ground and "headquarters" of it, thus aiding the end of terror. Bombs may not be the most appropriate course of action, but doing nothing and acting as though the issue doesn't exist is definitely worse. Anyone that would even consider joining ISIS needs to be exiled, they've got some sort of mental issue altogether if they think that joining ISIS is an OK thing to do.

Do you mind elaborating a little bit on how exactly blaming Islam would make someone a racist? Last I checked, Islam wasn't a race. When you use such a historically important word so loosely, it loses its true value and meaning. That was an intelligent, amazing, blessed man. I respect what he fought for and his word, but I disagree with this particular quote in reference to terrorism. I challenge you to ask victims of terrorism how much they love the attacker. Ask them if they forgive the attacker. I guarantee you, off television, you won't get any positive responses. How can I love and forgive a man that rapes, murders, mutilates, burns, hangs, and beheads innocent people? How would I forgive a man that raped my mother? Or burned my wife in a cage? Or beheaded my children in the middle of the street in broad daylight? This isn't a civil rights movement, this is an attack on all of us and what we hold dear to us. I agree, fight hate with hate, that doesn't solve anything. We need to fight hate with bullets, that's much more effective. I'll show how much I love putting them out of this planet so that people don't have to suffer and fear for their lives. It's ridiculous that children are being targeted. It's cowardly, and it pisses me the hell off. I have no love or forgiveness for terrorists, they need to be put down. They don't deserve to be on this planet, and I'd place money that the parents of the girls that lost their lives would agree.

Explosion at Ariana Grande concert
My condolences are with the victims of this horrible tragedy, and it's a shame that innocent lives were lost in this cowardice and senseless attack. That's just how cowardly these terrorists are. They target those that can't defend themselves, innocent young girls that are out enjoying music from pop artists. A lot of those girls probably don't even understand what's going on, that's how young a lot of them appeared to be. I can't even imagine how it must feel, as a parent, sitting at home not knowing where your children are. The children probably don't know where they are either, it's really an awful situation. They continue to target the innocent and defenseless because they know that the armed forces of allied countries altogether would fuck them up in a heartbeat, it's pathetic.

Bring back the CVPI!
As the CVPI begins to disappear from fleets across the nation, we can honor (honour) its former use by creating our own reimagined versions. I saw this beauty a while ago, and it brought a tear to my eye.

The line is more thin.
I thought that police brutality was literally the topic of the entire discussion. Apparently, I'm mistaken. I'll stop debating, here, then.

- The line is more thin.
Of course, it's unacceptable, I didn't say that police brutality was OK. I said that police brutality versus a criminal (a violent criminal to be specific) isn't something that I'm concerned or empathetic about. "I'm not saying that the police are justified to run up and down the street doing whatever the hell they want."- The line is more thin.
Of course, I'm not saying that the police are justified to run up and down the street doing whatever the hell they want. All I'm saying is that in today's America, generally speaking, victims of police brutality brought it upon themselves because they are criminals. I personally enjoy seeing violent criminals get roughed up by the police.- The line is more thin.
Because generally speaking, they are indeed idiots that failed to obey simple lawful instructions. I don't entirely agree with his remarks on militarization and "lack" of accountability. It was reasonable to an extent, but it's still a matter of opinion altogether. I don't recall ever saying that I am in support of police brutality. I do remember saying that I have no empathy for individuals (criminals) that bring the brutality upon themselves. Just because I have no sympathy for a criminal doesn't necessarily mean that I agree with the (supposedly) brutal actions of law enforcement.- The line is more thin.
Based on my observations, it seems as though most victims of police brutality in today's America are people that created the circumstances themselves. Criminals, that I don't really have any empathy for. Idiots, that failed to obey simple instructions.- Airline Troubles
Made me lol, good point you have there. I'd like to know the specifics of the science behind it. He kinda does have a good point with that.- Airline Troubles
I understand the reason, but you're missing one important factor: If I paid for the seat, it's my seat. There is no question or discussion about it. There's no reason at all why I should be kicked off of a flight because the airline sold my seat because they thought I wouldn't make the flight. I (and clearly most other Americans) don't care about their reason. If someone is being booted from a plane seat that they purchased, there's a problem with customer service whether the airline has a reason or not. So you're trying to tell me that overbooking 18 out of 21 million people somehow decreased the price of plane tickets for everyone? Even if there was a decrease, I sincerely doubt that it was a decrease of any significance. 18 people had to deal with garbage from the airline, and that's worth far more than (presumably) a few cents off a plane ticket. I'm willing to pay a few extra cents or dollars if it means that someone doesn't get booted from a flight that they paid to take. What if I'm traveling the country to attend a funeral of a passed family member? The airlines compensate you for overbooking (which until now was a pretty low amount) but I don't care about the compensation, I need to get to that funeral. No amount of money that you give me, personally, will be worth missing the funeral of a family member or loved one. Or maybe I am a doctor and I am traveling because I need to conduct an important surgery. I need to be there on time, I can't be there late, and overbooking just caused the individual to lose their life because I couldn't make it on time. Or I have chain flights, and now since I missed the first flight, I've missed every flight after. My problem is that people are forced to leave the plane if it's overbooked. If someone volunteers to leave that's fine, that's their decision. But you can't force me off the plane because you overbooked, that's wrong. That's 18 people that were kicked off of a flight and had their schedules inconvenienced, 18 too many. The situation would be different if it were some sort of airline error or accident, but the airlines bumped the passengers on purpose, knowing exactly what they were doing. They were trying to be greedy, and their assumptions on attendance were incorrect and caused people to miss their originally intended flights. That's not acceptable, and it's ridiculous that even 18 out of 21 million had to deal with poor customer service due to greed.- Airline Troubles
I appreciate the links, but clearly, their reasoning and systems in place aren't working. We've seen countless conflictions with this overbooking crap that airlines like to pull, and I still think it's completely ridiculous. If I paid for a seat, that seat is mine whether I show up or not. They still have my money, and them trying to predict whether or not I'll show up just so that they can resell the seat is greed. Them trying to sell the seat twice by predicting whether or not I'll actually make my flight is them being greedy to make an extra buck, as Riley24 said. I continue to stand against the airlines with this because it's corrupt and it's bad treatment to their customers. They already made the money, they're just trying to go double, and it's greedy.- Airline Troubles
If I understand correctly, you were bumped and left the airport 90 minutes later? If I am understanding you correctly, let me ask this: What if someone else was put into your shoes but couldn't afford to be 90 minutes late? Say they need to be at their destination at the time they were originally scheduled, or they had chain flights and the next flight leaves before then? I'd say that's another case of the airline being at fault for overbooking a flight.- Airline Troubles
Over the past few weeks, we've seen rising issues with customer service in a few airlines. United Airlines United Airlines has received immense criticism when a man was bloodied and violently dragged off of a plane. The name of the victim is David Dao, a doctor that was evidently en route to an important surgery from an airport in Chicago. The flight that David was on had been overbooked by the airline, which means that the airline accepted more reservations than actually available. The flight crew had asked for volunteers to leave the plane for compensation. David and his wife initially agreed to take a different flight, but later reversed their decision when they were informed that the next flight wasn't until the following day. No one else on the flight volunteered to give up their seat, so the flight "randomly" chose to evict passengers from the plane, and David was selected. David declared that he wouldn't leave the flight since he paid for the flight, and he stated that he didn't care if he were arrested. After brief verbal exchanges between David and law enforcement, he was eventually removed from the flight with force and suffered a broken nose, concussion, and two of his teeth were knocked out. Officers report that David violently swung at them prior to their aggression. This incident has sparked outrage across social media, and United Airlines refunded the man and paid him an undisclosed amount of compensation. Since the incident, United Airlines has changed a few of its policies in relevance to overbooking, baggage loss, and improved customer service tools for passengers. In the latest change following the incident, Chicago aviation officials have stated that Chicago police and aviation officers will not board a plane to deal with a customer service dispute. More information can be found at the following links: http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-travel-briefcase-security-officers-20170506-story.html https://www.forbes.com/sites/shephyken/2017/05/06/united-airlines-one-month-later/#60117ada3d0b http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/25/us/united-airlines-incident-officers-report/index.html Delta Airlines The most recent of airline disputes is with Delta Airlines when a man and his family (wife and two babies) were kicked off of a flight. Brian had purchased a seat for their teenage son but he took an earlier flight, leaving the seat vacant but still purchased by the family. According to NBC News, Brian and his wife had arranged for their 2-year-old son to use the seat purchased for their teenage son. The family had already boarded the flight when Delta officials asked them to simply hold the child and allow another passenger to purchase the seat, rather than put the child in a car seat. David told NBC that they had arranged for their teenage son to take an earlier flight home so that their 2-year-old son could sleep comfortably in his a seat overnight on the flight. David refused to forfeit his seat and was threatened after a brief argument with a flight attendant that their children would be put into a foster home, and they'd go to jail. The flight attendant claimed that it was a federal offense (which is false). Eventually, the family left the plane, as not to escalate the situation, and were forced to purchase a hotel room and new tickets home. After extreme outrage on social media and news coverage, Delta has apologized to the family and fully refunded them, along with an undisclosed amount of compensation. Delta, however, continues to get a wave of negative reviews on their Facebook and twitter pages. https://www.facebook.com/pg/delta/reviews/ http://www.ibtimes.com/delta-air-lines-breaks-silence-after-kicking-family-babies-flight-watch-2535356 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39814586 American Airlines Another incident with customer service on a plane, this time it's with American Airlines. A woman from Argentina was traveling onboard a plane with her two children when a flight attendant took a stroller from her. The woman cried, asking for the flight attendant to return the stroller to her, and the flight attendant ignored her. The situation escalated when a second passenger intervened to the woman's aid, saying to the flight attendant, "Hey bud, hey bud, you do that to me and I'll knock you flat"! The flight attendant, who was notably angry prior to the entire incident, pointed at the man and said, "Hey, you stay out of this"! The passenger moves from his seat to physically confront the flight attendant and the pilot is seen attempting to calm the flight attendant, who stood his ground. The woman can be heard crying in the background. Airline rules state that passengers must have strollers checked at the gate, and the flight attendant attempted to tell the woman that she needed to have the stroller checked. The woman was trying to jam the stroller down the plane aisle, and the flight attendant took the stroller from her nearly hitting the baby in the face with it. This prompted the incident to escalate as explained. Since the incident occurred, American Airlines has apologized to the woman and any other passengers they may have affected. The woman decided to take another flight with her children and were upgraded to first-class passengers for the remainder of their trip. American Airlines has removed the flight attendant from duty as they investigate the incident. http://abcnews.go.com/US/american-airlines-flight-attendant-grounded-altercation-passengers-captured/story?id=46951873 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dr-gridlock/wp/2017/04/22/american-airlines-suspends-flight-attendant-after-video-captures-confrontation/?utm_term=.1b0ada44e135 What are your thoughts on an apparent rise in airline confrontations between passengers and the flight crews?- The Los Angeles Riots - 25 Year Anniversary
Well, in my opinion, you can't really make general statements when it comes to the "struggles" of the black community in a "racist white" America. This is a case where the general statement isn't entirely true based on the generalization that you provided. How a black community is struggling from racist white people when they are being run by other blacks and have a black police force is beyond me. - The line is more thin.
