    What you said may be true but in real life there is a thing called a siren park kill switch, that does the exact same thing as this. When the vehicle is switched into park it kills the siren. The just are seen as more of a novelty item and not necessary to most departments because "We didn't have that when I was on patrol in the 80s and we still got the job done". Just trying to spread some knowledge around. If you like it the siren running as you chase someone down an alley then go for it. It does add to the adrenaline of the situation, as that was how it used to have to be and we have been conditioned to it. My foot pursuits do seem a bit lacking when I am chasing someone and that noise is missing, but at the same time, extracting someone from a vehicle and handcuffing them after an accident it is bit less disorienting now.
