Community Spotlight: Zach Houseknecht

In this edition of the Community Spotlight, we sat down with another member of Code Zero and close friend of Jeff, Zach Houseknecht

Today, we've sat down with another well known youtuber, and close friend of Jeff Favivignano, Zach Houseknecht. At the time of writing, he currently has 116,000 subscribers and is another one of the most known content creators for LSPDFR via Youtube.

So without further ado, let's begin!

For those unaware of you who are, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Yes, I am YouTube content creator full time and I also work part-time for a company that outfits police, fire and EMS vehicles. I started my YouTube channel a little over three years ago as a hobby and have grown over time with LCPDFR, LSPDFR, and GTA V.  I owe a lot of my early success to being a part of Code Zero Gaming, which  I’ll touch on a little later.

Aside from Youtube, is there a certain career you’d like to get into one day like a LEO?

I'm really grateful to have the opportunity to even be a full-time YouTuber and that's really where my heart is. That being said, I think when we were young a lot of us aspired to be a police officer, firefighter, or EMT. However, I don’t think I’m suited for a lot of those positions. I have so much respect for each of those fields, but there’s a lot of mental and physical strain that I don’t think I could deal with.

Can you give a rough estimation of when you first joined the community?

2012 is about when I started playing LCPDFR in GTA IV in my free time. Early 2013 is when I started to upload content to my YouTube channel, with my earliest content being singleplayer LCPDFR.

Did you ever imagine you’d become one of the most well known youtubers for LSPDR content?

I never knew my channel would grow to the size it is today, let alone with such a community dedicated to watching my LSPDFR content. It’s great to have such an engaged audience, all while playing a game and modification that I love. More recently I’ve been using the “Chase Me” functionality of LSPDFR and reversing the roles, which people seem to really enjoy.

You are a part of Code Zero correct? How did you meet Bugs/Jeff/Polecat?

Yes, I joined Code Zero very shortly after I started uploading content on Youtube. I was a fan and watched all of their LCPDFR content and thought to myself, I would love to play with these guys. I had hit it off with them, and was playing multiplayer LCPDFR with the group only a month after starting my channel. I would like to believe my craziness/non-seriousness balanced the realism of the other members early on, and I believe it still does so today. Buggs and Jeff are very much so close friends, and have been since we started gaming with each other. It’s insane the amount of time all of us have spent talking to each other on Skype, which has connected all of us regardless of us being hundreds of miles apart from one another. Polecat was one of the more recent additions to Code Zero, and I believe his crazy personality meshes perfectly with the group. We like to call Code Zero Gaming, a group of friends that games together. And while our schedules and different time zones may make that difficult, we are all friends at the end of the day.

Do you have a favourite user modification?

I wouldn’t be able to narrow it down to just one. It’s basically anything Albo112 puts out. The amount of time and effort he puts into his modifications shows, and most of them I can’t get through a session without using. His callouts are also usually surprising and in-depth.

Anything you wish to say to the community?

I wouldn’t be here without all of you, every single one of you that watches and enjoys my content has made me into what I am today. As well as the modification community, and G17 Media which have created a great platform on which to play and entertain a massive audience!

Got anything you’re working on that you can maybe share with us?

More recently I’ve been working on Rockstar Editor content aside from regular gameplay videos. There’s a lot of content I create and sometimes never sees the light of day, maybe me being too critical of myself. However, I’m working on some long-form videos, and more edited content in GTA V. I also intend on covering more and more police vehicles in LSPDFR, stepping out of my comfort zone, and using foreign vehicles as well as more super cars - people tend to love the ridiculous nature of the latter.

Community spotlight on someone with 6 posts in 3 years. :P I get that he's big on YouTube but is that really contributing to the community that much? It's just entertainment.

EDIT: I see his post above me and he has a few points. But still, essentially 0 activity on the website.

Just because he isn't active on a site doesn't mean he has contributed to the community. I don't understand why you resent the decision to feature him in the community spotlight. I think it's well deserved, if it weren't for youtubers like Zach there would be a lot less people in the community.

@McAwesome6934 The YouTube videos made about LSPDFR can be argued as part of the community. But the website is 100% the community; people that are active in improving and discussing the LSPDFR modification rather than just playing it and posting videos of entertainment. His contribution has been increasing the traffic to LSPDFR but almost nothing besides that. I don't resent that decision, I just don't agree with it. But I can see why he'd be featured as picking a big YouTuber to interview for a spotlight is much easier than having to pick which modder has made big contributions.

In the article, and a further comment by myself, I mentioned that we will be shifting our focus back to mod creators for the next segment of the Community Spotlight. Youtube, like it or not, is still a massive part of this community, without it, we wouldn't have nearly half of the members we do now.

I was even drawn to the site and the old LCPDFR modification five years ago through seeing it on youtube by chance.

I already have some people in mind for the next spotlight, who will be contacted by myself in the near future and yes, they are mod creators.

The entire point of the spotlight is to highlight and appreciate people who have contributed to the community by raising awareness of the mod (the likes of @JFavignano & @Zachary Houseknecht) and simply created awesome contributions to run alongside the core modification (the likes of @Albo1125).

As I always say at the end of each spotlight, if you feel you'd like to be featured on the next community spotlight and have good reason to be, then contact me and we'll discuss the possibility

Awesome spotlight!

In the argument regarding Youtubers, I think that Zach and Jeff are very influential to the community (as well as any other decent to large sized Youtubers). Likewise with Harper, I discovered LCPD:FR and fell in love with it through Kpax back in 2012 (who unfortunately shut his Youtube down after real life got in the way, taking his videos with him :( ) and that was when I discovered Buggs. Since then, I have played LCPD:FR and LSPD:FR almost non-stop. I think if it weren't for our Youtubers, this community (which BTW, doesn't mean just this site, it refers to anyone who plays GTA:IV as well as other sites in the community, honestly) would not be as large nor as successful as it is today. I find some reasoning behind this... whether it be the fact that it gets news out to people about such a modification or even showcases of mods which allow people to find out about them and then they go and download the mods.
