This vest is used in actual LAPD SWAT.

the one for the swat peds remind me back in my cirg days la swat style vest are more like a vest with armor plating.  fbi swat, hrt, cirg, dea fast team  and  marshals are more military grade standard law enforcement are more like this.

While cool, that would be very unpractical as it requires you to have a plate in your vest at all times. LEOs in IRL don't carry plates in their vests unless they have a need to drop one in.

Good point. I intended it to be more of a SWAT/Tactical suggestion because even though we already have a good number of those, I find most of them to be very bulky and over-loaded when compared to some tactical units like UK's CTSFO and my local one (Calgary). Judging from pictures, they seem to go with only up to 3 AR magazines and maybe a pouch or two but that's pretty much it. 

Any thoughts about a less tactical more patrol type vest like this?

I'm all about lite movement myself. I don't like being weighed down by being top heavy with gear. Love it being balanced on my Rig and on my Vest. Most of that extra stuff like the radio can be on the back of the vest. The med kit can also be on the back of the vest or on the side. This right here more like it!  Thing I don't see is that he does not have any plates of any kind...Police do not have to be blazed across like that should be on the back of the vest. Those are my only issues when looking at this image. Other than that, it's how I use to roll myself.
