Sirens not being replaced

Featured Replies

Hello

So I installed a siren mod this morning and, despite following all the steps, the default siren sound didn't get replaced. Then I tried to rename the main siren sound file to SIREN_PA20A_WAIL, which is the default GTA siren for LSPD cars, but the siren became mute.

I don't have ELS, I don't know if that's the problem.

EDIT: I forgot to say that yelp and phaser do get replaced, but not wail.

Hello,

What mod did you install?

Thanks!

I installed this one. I did some research and found that some GTA update changed the siren sound name from 0x0... to SIREN_PA20A_WAIL and the horn from 0x0... to AIRHORN_ECQ or something like that. So I changed the files names but all the sirens got muted in the game.

When I replaced the music files for the loading intro to the game I had to do something like extract OAC files, replace the media files in the folder with the sounds I wanted replaced, named them the same thing, replaced them, then put the OAC file back into the spot they were extracted in OpenIV. The siren pack I went for just straight up replaces the RESIDENT.rpf file and was super easy, maybe look out for a pack with this option if you're still having troubles.

Yep, that's what I did. What siren did you install by the way?

Alright, I've found that vehicles.awc file has to be under 16.000KB size in order to make the sirens work. I had to mute other sounds with Audacity to reduce size.

Sounds about right
