How to make distant lights stronger?

Featured Replies

So my problem is that my lights look pretty nice close up, but from a distance they look faded. Led lights should be visible very well even from a big distance. I know of some Timecycle Modifiers that has this effect, but I want this to be permanent, and I only need the lights to get stronger in intensity. Any idea how I would do that?

 I've been trying to find something for a while with this and the only thing I've found that works well is to use Non-ELS and have the corona behind the light. Limits what you can do but it dose make them brighter. My Arrow XT is a good example of this.

There was a way though Zmod to increase the emissive of a light_emissive per texture, so the L0 could have a multiplier of 3 and the L2 could have 5 But the got broke in the bikers update and hasn't been fixed yet.

You could try scaling the Lower LOD's siren mesh larger to give off a brighter effect from a distance.

For example, if you are using ELS you can simply scale L2 and L3 larger, compound then done.

But if using the game's vanilla siren system (NON-ELS) then you will have to adjust the 'scaleFactor' value in the carcols file so the mesh won't protrude through the car when the lights are inactive. I have tried value 20 for scaleFactor and scaling the siren meshes in ZMod down to 5.000 and can confirm the lights will not be visible when inactive.

You could always just put the dummy's for the sirens far below the car and not have to worry about messing with the carcols file, but of course you won't have environmental reflections which can ruin the immersion.

I hope this makes sense and is not too confusing to follow. Let me know if this helps!!

I've tested out several timecycle modifiers using a trainer and while some only increases the bloom (meaning even street lights will glow like hell), there are some modifiers that only change the emmisive lights intensity.

@0taku

I don't like the idea behind coronas as they are just light sprites pulled in front of a light source. I even have my coronas disabled. From what I can see they can't imitate the light properly anyway. For example on the NYPD cars I use currently the top lightbar has red and blue coronas, while the front of the car only emits red, and there's only a tiny part of blue at the back.

@PSource

I'm not modifying files in Zmodeler, I'm just trying to edit the Timecyc or visualsettings. Most of the vehicle mods are locked anyway, so it wouldn't even be possible.
