Is it just me or does it feel like modding is dying?

Featured Replies

Not only that, feels like role play and the community here is also on it's way down (from an activity standpoint). Maybe it's because the game is 5 years old now?

Modding isn't dying.  It's a stupid cycle that continues.  People either think they are big enough to leave LCPDFR and have a Discord server with tons of people, or they have a falling out with someone and leave to their server for a while.  99% of them come back.  Recently there was a lot of modders who left for whatever reason.  As I predicted, all of them came back and tried to hide the fact that they left to begin with.

Modding is still very popular, and part of the way to tell is all the new threads every day from people needing help with LSPDFR or GTA.

Same thing for roleplaying, kinda.    Roleplaying has been around for a very, very long time and is never going to die.    A good judge of this is the fivem community and just how many active servers and active people there are.  I will say in terms of single player LSPDFR roleplay (for those who do it), it can get stale sometimes simply because you're by yourself and you can't have all these nice scenarios, but it certainly doesn't stop LSPDFR from being fun.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Im guessing alot of people, as myself also - lost hope a while there because of the way Rockstar treated the Modders in GTAV.  People getting banned for using mods ingame (mostly due to being unlucky enough to start the launcher and not the Rage hook!... been there, done that.. )

But still. It's a bit modding scene, and with all these serious devs and scriptwizards... Oh my, it's never going away 🙂

And it must never be forgotten.. This is the best Grand Theft Auto community out there. I don't think there are many issues that cannot be resolved in here.

* And of course... Some modders are leaving, because as Giordano says - they want to move to a platform where they can earn some cash on their mods. Which in my opinion is not a good trend.  But for example Zmodeler costs money... Adobe Photoshop cost money. And surely OpenIV can in the future cost money. So it's not free to mod these days.

I like that there is the Paypal Donate option here on LCPDFR. And i really hope that users in the future uses it sometimes - if they want modders to stay in here, and dedicate hundreds of hours to this game.

I think if you're here a lot, you get used to the pace at which things release and it starts to feel slow. Recently, I took a small break and came back about a week or two later and the amount of new mods was surprising.

If things start to feel like things are dying, it might be good to step back and do something else for a bit to "re-ignite the spark" that made LSPDFR fun to begin with.

I do it a lot.
